    Pros

Pay initially but after realize you are hourly as a sales employee. Some people work 40 hours, some work 45 hours and a bonus structure where you will absolutely never know what you will make. You should be considered “lucky” if you have a bonus on your check, and if not then expect that.

    Cons

Toxic Environment Poor Communicaion Poor working conditions Incompetent leadership Little employee appreciation Impossible longevity working within the team This department internally is most poorly ran department in the company. You are essentially a peon in the pecking order. As the companies biggest money makers, the expectations are rediculous compared to how you are treated and affirmed. There is ZERO and...

    Advice to Management

If you reward hard working employees, they will feel rewarded, and in turn will reward you with more hard work. If you continue to not listen to what most of your employees are crying out for, you will continue to see reviews like this one.

I worked at Central Transport full-time for more than 6 years

    Pros

The only pro I can think of is......this is tough.....scratch that, I can’t think of a pro.

    Cons

Where to begin.... 1. Savage work environment. Corporate policy creates hostile work environments at the terminal level. 2. Zero compassion or concern for humans. I watched them (and to my regret assisted them as a result of being forced) in screwing over some incredibly good guys (and women). Death in your family? Don’t care. Sick? Don’t care. Your child have a special need? Don’t care. As a terminal manager...

I have been working at Central Transport full-time

    Pros

Most of the people are nice. The pay is higher than other Detroit area jobs that hire people without degrees. The work varies between exceeding simple and excruciatingly hard (almost impossible).

    Cons

Departments and Terminals are constantly understaffed. Due to this, work is almost impossible to get done even with absurd amounts of overtime (some people work 50-80 hours a week, especially salaried). Because of this, there's an extreme amount of waste (freight miss-shipped, broken, lost constantly) and no one has time to work with each other (most colleagues either ignore...

    Advice to Management

Hire the amount of people needed to do a job and people who actually want to work. That alone will fix a lot of the issues and create a more pleasant environment. Get direct deposit and better benefits. Get rid of sexist rules and nip rumors in the bud. Make HR less intimidating and available for any issues.

I worked at Central Transport full-time for more than 4 years

    Pros

They don't push you too hard. Mainly because they've lost so many accounts. They have bought some new trucks. They did go to BC/BS insurance.

    Cons

They cut everyone's hours to 40 or less. I assume to pay for the new trucks. No one gets over 45 hours and everyone starts at 9:30am.

    Advice to Management

    Return drivers hours.

I have been working at Central Transport full-time

    Pros

    A paycheck, a paycheck, a job

    Cons

There is no feeling of being part of a team. No one will know you or want to know you here. Whether you work is above and beyond. Be prepared for a lackluster experience.

    Advice to Management

Management prides themselves on working lean to the detriment of ALL. Needed supplies, such as shrink wrap to secure customers broken pallets, not being supplied. Told to make it work. This place is only good as a stepping stone, just to make a few pennies. Definitely not a career company.

      I worked at Central Transport

      Pros

Good starting pay and nice co-workers for the most part.

      Cons

Worked 70 hrs a week... no OT til after 55. Checks were wrong 30% of the time... took sometimes months to get them fixed. In order for you to get paid... they made you sign Incident Reports that went into your file which basically stated it was YOUR fault. Even tho the handheld device showed what hours you actually worked... even when it errored... you still got written up. Last check from there... still not corrected!...

      Advice to Management

No one ever stayed for long. During my 3 yrs at CT saw numerous people walk off the job... most over pay issues. You can't NOT pay your employees and expect them to keep working long hours for you. Let the terminal managers actually manage... they actually know what's going on... not the person on the end of a computer screen half way across the country!

      Pros

      Better than being unemployed.....i guess.

      Cons

Its easy to see that HR likes to come on here and write fake positive reviews.....just look at the 3 or 4 most recent ones and how professionally they are worded. Not that the people that work here are incapable of writing well, but what a joke if they think those can pass for actual company employee reviews. But I'll get to the point...what an absolutely horrible company to work for. The benefits are a laughable,...

I worked at Central Transport part-time for more than 4 years

      Pros

They regularly hire people with no experience, and the pay is decent considering there's no work or college requirement. Hours are steady (unless it's a holiday week; all time off is unpaid). Outside of that, uhh, there's sometimes free popcorn or ice cream in the break room?

      Cons

      - no raises, benefits, incentives, or guaranteed time off - you're not allowed to talk or get up from your desk during your shift - all time off is unpaid, and people regularly get turned down for it; also, changing your schedule is nearly impossible - no one is happy to work in this department - you feel crappy knowing CT is a multibillion dollar company yet you can't work...
