I have been working at Central Transport full-time for less than a year

    Pros

    Good money, Brand new tractors

    Cons

Home life, horrible trailers, long hours, overworked, well below average benefits

    Advice to Management

Invest in new trailers. I've been driving for 19 years, and have never seen a company operating so many old, dilapidated trailers as this company. Hire some more drivers and get more adequate dock space before trying to expand. Last but not least, get some real benefits for your employees. This is by far the worst insurance I've ever had at any trucking company I've worked for.

I worked at Central Transport full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Home nightly? 7-8pm is too late to say daily lol Newer trucks?

    Cons

Management. Payroll always messing up hours/pay. Would have to pray they had my hours correct from 2 weeks ago if I had extra things to buy the current week. The equipment at my terminal was absolutely terrible. Your manager has to ask permission for EVERYTHING. You can’t just stay after if the work is even needed. Your manager has to email someone and ASK TO EXTEND YOUR DOCK TIME! It is really a joke. The customers...

    Advice to Management

I would say please but I really don’t care. I am just making this review for people who are thinking about going to this company. Keep your smaller terminals maintained and stop being cheap with them. Fix the things that keep your business going and fix it right. Get rid of your careless managers that make the employees sit at the edge of their bed in the morning debating on calling off or going in because the job is...

I have been working at Central Transport full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Dispatcher is now at terminal and we can do face to face every day. New tractors and ownership has committed and kept their word buying new trailers every year. We have some now at home terminal in Texas. Outstanding! Always room for advancements and internal postings let us know what opportunities are available for current employees.

    Cons

No vision benefits. Trailers old and need to make sure a thorough pre-trip and post trip is done as supposed to be. No direct deposit and 2 weeks in the hole. it is a rough financial start! PAY CAN BE MORE COMPETITIVE

    Advice to Management

Keep caring about the drivers and making positive changes to improve service and maintain a good work environment.

    Pros

Good shift. Pay was decent. Got along with everyone in the shop.

    Cons

Winters can be brutal, but anyone who lives in Michigan knows that. Not too much to complain about. Trucks and trailers are newer.

    Advice to Management

Maintain open lines of communications with all levels of the maintenance department. Sometimes stuff gets lost along the way.

    Cons

Rude dispatchers. Trailers are in bad shape. Hand helds are really complicated at times.no direct deposit. Slow 62 mph trucks.

I have been working at Central Transport full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Home every day, good pay if you have a good route. People are super friendly, especially corporate. No micromanagement.

    Cons

Safety is non-existent, trailers are garbage, hours can be long, inefficient operations, paid by the load, not the mile like all the other ltl carriers.

    Advice to Management

Needs to be some oversight at each terminal for safety and compliance. Need more people in management because current management is overworked. Terminals are old and in bad shape, need to spend some money on upkeep and have maintenance on staff. Need to pay drivers per mile based on experience level and longevity with the company.
