I have been working at Centric Consulting full-time for more than a year

    Pros

My thoughts about Centric after 4 interviews made me believe that they had to be exaggerating something... 1. They are a consulting firm which provides "unmatched" client experiences; 2. They actually encourage a work life balance; 3. They invest in employee experiences like the annual holiday party, where the entire firm and their significant others are flown to a warm location for a weekend celebration. Nothing that I learned was exaggerated. Nothing. When you read that our (lofty) goal is to have 100% of our clients referenceable based on their unmatched experience with us, we mean it. When you read that this consulting firm (yes, consulting firm) wants our employees to live a balanced lifestyle and ultimately retire here, we mean it.

    Cons

Centric is a consulting firm which does carry long hours at times, though those periods of time are far shorter than competitors (I know that from experience). Plus, the people here are a lot funner to be in the trenches with!

    Centric Consulting Response

    May 18, 2020Director Operations

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with Centric. I'm glad to see it's a positive response but it's important to hear all types of feedback so we don't go astray from not only creating "unmatched" client experiences but also "unmatched" experiences for the people that work at Centric. It looks like you heard lots of positives during the recruiting process but I hope we also set realistic expectations. As you noted, consulting does come with the ups and downs of client life so it's important for candidates to know creating unmatched client experiences takes flexibility and commitment from every person at Centric.

I worked at Centric Consulting full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Centric does a great job supporting their consultants.

    Cons

One "con" was a less than smooth onboarding experience. However, to be fair and transparent, the company was transitioning backend HR systems at the time.

I have been working at Centric Consulting full-time for more than a year

    Pros

For years while at other companies, I worked with Centric consultants and found them to be intelligent, resourceful and competent. Many became fiends after working together (for different companies). After years of working with Centric, 14 months ago I became a Centric consultant. It has been a terrific 14 months. I thrive on good, meaty projects working with smart people who want to jump in and get things done and delivering game changing technology for a client. Centric gave a lot of ownership to figure it out and deliver, which I like, and provided expertise to fill the holes as needed. There have been some long hours and creativity needed, but I will take the right project and right team over the right hours any day. Centric favors open communication and feedback over deferring to hierarchy or niceties. It is also a culture where Centric associates are encouraged to continue to learn and build their skills and opportunities as a consultant.

    Cons

I don’t know that I have any, other than Centric is growing and, like any company faced with success, has to diligently work to keep the same culture and level of consulting.

I have been working at Centric Consulting full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Culture is the best I have experienced. No ego's. Collaborative, open environment.

    Cons

Most but not all practices share the incredible culture.

I have been working at Centric Consulting full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Professional company that cares about its employees, clients and community; honesty & transparency are key; "do the right thing" is lived daily; professionally challenging and rewarding

    Cons

There is not enough time in the day to make all the contributions to the success of the company I would like to.

I have been working at Centric Consulting full-time for less than a year

    Pros

A company that truly puts its money where its mouth is when it comes to nurturing its company culture. You really get to see what a company is made of when times get tough, and through the pandemic, Centric has stayed true to maintaining its employee-focused culture.

    Cons

Centric hires seasoned business professionals, so don't come here expecting a lot of hand holding.

I have been working at Centric Consulting full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

    * Can focus on the role and type of work I like to do * Opportunity to try other things if I want, take my career in a different direction if I want * Treated like a professional, never micro managed * Work with great people * Strong national and local leadership team * Transparent organization, open about all aspects of the business * Great national and local communication * Strong focus on customer delivery excellence * Well managed and positioned financially * We're a virtual company (no brick & mortal buildings) so we're prepared and able to work remotely/from anywhere

    Cons

    * It's a smaller company and I'm in a smaller market relatively speaking, so opportunities to try new things can be limited unless I'm willing to travel * Due to our size and financial model, can't hire people "to the bench" so it's sometimes challenging to find the right people in a timely manner to meet client needs * Not necessarily a con, but it's consulting so the work adds up to support client delivery, business development, and practice management (recruiting, internal process improvements, etc.) - can mean long hours at times so you have to manage your work/life balance

I have been working at Centric Consulting full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

I wanted to work at firm that aligned with my professional and personal values. I found this at Centric. Even as we've continued to grow, we've maintained our culture. Our leadership actually does care about our employees and it is demonstrated regularly.

    Cons

Centric is perfect for driven people, so if you are personally motivated you will have ample opportunities and you will work a lot. Centric is not very prescriptive, so if you are looking for a "career development checklist approach" to advancement, this isn't the place for you. Centric is conservative in terms of investment and risk, so if you are looking for a place where you always have the shiny, new tool, this isn't the place.

    Centric Consulting Response

    May 18, 2020Director Operations

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your experience! After 8 years you've seen a lot of growth related changes both within Centric and your specific work location. It's fantastic that you still see so much of the company you joined 8 years ago as we work hard to maintain that client and employee focused culture as we continue to grow and given your tenure you are part of the solution. The items you listed as "cons" are also important to share. No workplace is the perfect fit for everyone so knowing what is expected to succeed and enjoy yourself at work is critical. Cheers to the next 8 years....and more!

I have been working at Centric Consulting full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

If you are looking for a firm where you respect the skills of your colleagues and genuinely like them and like working with them, then you have found your place. Centric offers entrepreneurial opportunities to grow and manage your career. Go to the client site and help to build a team there. Want to do something different, suggest to client and Centric manager and they will pursue it. Great opportunity to work in different industries and learn new skills.

    Cons

It can require patience in the recruiting process to "get through". They are opportunistic in onboarding new employees to assignments but that helps to manage the finances and the bench. Not a place for folks who are competitive at the expense of their own teammates.

    Centric Consulting Response

Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts. It's great to hear that your initial experiences are positive ones. As you've likely noticed, we don't have a rigid/inflexible structure which helps us make the right decisions for our clients and our people on an individual level but, at times, can leave some items such as approvals a little unclear if expectations were not set up front. I hope what your seeking to understand has been clarified but if not the best way to get an answer is to ask. We want to have a culture where open dialogue is encouraged and no question is "bad". If you don't have an answer to your question, or are unsure of who to ask, feel free to give me (Matt Henretta) a call or send me a note in Teams.
