    Advice to Management

I worked at Centrica full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Excellent UX colleagues and some excellent dedicated working members of project teams.

    Cons

Bad decisions made on Projects based on narrow interests rather than decisions based on the best interests of staff (users)

    Advice to Management

    Disapproves of CEO

I worked at Centrica full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Historically there was great pay, there were great people. These are all being eroded fast. At one time you could have a go at anything

    Cons

What is the strategy. Where is the share price. Where are people going. The emperor is naked

    Advice to Management

Tell your new CEO that things are not going well. 18 months or more into his tenure the ship feels like it's sinking. Good people have gone. Stem the tide. Back your balance sheet with some assets and produce something.

    Pros

Lots of projects on the go so varied work.
    Decent remuneration.
    Big company benefits.
    Some nice people work here.
    Work/ life balance

    Cons

New CEO , new vision. ( Can be a Pro as well ).
Fear of redundancy which can/will be forever present.
    Our-sourcing widespread.
Offices nearly empty on Fridays.... only the out-sourced teams are in.

    Advice to Management

Look internally to see where your wasting money.
Your move is towards "Better Service" but your call centre staff are near breaking point.
Consider in-sourcing some previously out-sourced roles.

I have been working at Centrica full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Very flexible, good technology to allow home working
    Great people
    Nice offices
    Excellent benefit package

    Cons

Recent restructuring and budget cuts means they have lost amazing talent and people left behind are frustrated and battered by senior management stasis and constant budget pressure. Along with pay negotiations morale is very low.

Career progression and development isn't great anymore.

    Advice to Management

Sort out the strategy, take better care of your people or you store up further issues for yourself.

Good work life balance - some interesting work. Nice people generally.

    Cons

Hard to change direction of big ship. Constant re-orgs. Lots of corporate strategies, values and "special sauces".

    Advice to Management

Less talk more action. Less re-org and renewing our values and more explaining what actually needs to be done on the ground.
