I have been working at Century Aluminum full-time

    Pros

Position offers flexible hours. You basically create your own start and stop times; however, must remain consistent on hours worked.

    Cons

Demanding job. Always on call and do get called at all hours of the night. Regularly required to come into the plant at night when called.

    Advice to Management

    hire more staff

I worked at Century Aluminum full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

There are plenty of good people at Century who treat others well and try hard to make a difference. That includes operators, maintenance, technical/engineers, supervisors & managers too. Work hours and benefits were great.

    Cons

The relationship between union & company leaders is toxic. And it rolls downhill except for those who go out of their way to keep it from happening. I've seen operators berated needlessly, spurious NLRB suits filed, and pressure put on to change audit scores.

    Advice to Management

Try to build a more collaborative organization. It's worth the effort.
