I have been working at CenturyLink full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Pros to potentially working from home (which is not an option in my current job) Save gas, time, money, try something new, less stress on the road, comfortable atmosphere, less interruptions, better for environment (one less car on the road), no office drama, better use of my time, can still work if I’m under the weather.

    Cons

Cons in potentially working from home with a new company: Less social interactions, would be nice to have occasional work group meetings, vacation time lost could be an issue, insurance policy would be a concern, reduction in pay could be unappealing, loss of other benefits. No union support.

    Advice to Management

I’m good at what I do. 34 years Data entry and complicated systems interaction. Phone company stuff. I give my all, expect appreciation, human respect, and good pay, vacation, benefits. I am worthy. In return, I give my all.

I worked at CenturyLink full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    The health benefits were great.

    Cons

My former manager lacked interpersonal and communication skills. He had racist tendencies which was very unprofessional.

    Advice to Management

Please restore some sense of professionalism in sales department. There are so many unethical practices taking place and swept under the rug.

    Pros

Great colleagues, good product set, fabulous sales training

    Cons

Pay is low for the job required and the area. No real room for advancement. Systems and processes are antiquated and inefficient. Commision structure is impossible to understand and is a constantly moving target. Getting a sale is the easy part, getting it installed and then getting paid for it - that's often impossible.

    Advice to Management

The average tenure of 8-10 months should alert you to a serious problem within the organization. Although attempts to revive morale are there, the consistent change in focus and priorities has a negative impact on both goals and morale. The management offers very little in the way of true leadership (excepting only a few). Those that do lead- are left to carry the load of the managers who micromanage their staff in a way that creates an abysmal work environment. Constant threats of lay offs and continual staff turnover leads to employees who don't trust either the company or their coworkers. Too many people who are just waiting to be pushed out the door.

I have been working at CenturyLink full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Large network and install base ensures some level of predictability
Leadership clearly is intent on transforming the company
Technology turn over always presents new opportunities

    Cons

Core revenues are shrinking, creating consistent pressures on expense
Leadership vision/plan for transformation strategy is at times cloudy

    Advice to Management

Better align and reduce the number of transformational programs. At some point they dilute the efficacy amongst themselves.
