They started hiring Pfizer execs who sucked the life out of the company. Now Cephalon no longer exists.

I worked at Cephalon full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

I worked for Cephalon for 10 years. I came in through a temp agency and was hired 1 year later. Each department was a very close group of employees and they were dedicated/long term employees. Long lasting friendships were made, and this is exactly the culture Frank Baldino wanted. He come to work everyday and eat in the same cafeteria along side his employees, he was one of us. Salary and benefits were Great! Opportunities to learn were there, you just had to take advantage of them.

    Cons

Management was brought up the ladder and at times didn't deserve the positions they were given. There was no where to go if you had a complaint, the company was so small that it always go back to Management and you would be treated accordingly. Compliance?!

    Advice to Management

The company was taken over after the death of Frank Baldino, by Teva Pharma which was a large company and lay-offs came and were welcomed. We knew it would Never be the same Cephalon it once was.

I worked at Cephalon full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good benefits, work life balance, and pay. Opportunity to specialize in one or two things. Small site allowed you to know everyone in your organization. Bonuses were good.

    Cons

No opportunity to do anything other than your niche function. Large disconnect between senior management and the workforce. Constant emails from corporate responding to the media, politics, and investigations into the company started making things seem shady. Cliques weren't bad when I started but in two years they were bad enough that I decided to leave. One group had problems with sexual harassment, screaming matches between PhDs and line workers. If you leave, the company will never rehire you.

    Advice to Management

There was an arrogance instilled in employees that persists to this day when talking with them.
