I have been working at Cerner full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I've been working at Cerner almost 2 years and have loved it. The work in health care is inspiring, and the amount of time and energy they put into developing associates is fantastic. Not only do you have amazing career opportunities and room for growth, but there also benefits like a gym, doctors office, pharmacy, and cafeteria all at work.

    Cons

The work-life balance can be a little stressful at times, but as long as communicated with your manager, it's definitely manageable!

    Advice to Management

Make sure you take time to develop your associates and really make sure they know you want to see them succeed.

I have been working at Cerner full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good job right out of college. Can be used as a springboard to better things. Some teams are quite lenient, and if you make yourself a valuable asset, you may just be able to land a remote gig (but this is very rare).

    Cons

Not remote friendly, pay and PTO is on the low side. Experience varies by team, but on mine, work from home during office hours was only allowed in special cases, despite all of our tools being remote capable. If you want to get good pay raises, you need to put in more hours, as hours worked is taken into account during annual review.
Also, expect a lot of churn. Most people aim for senior engineer, then use that to get a better job elsewhere, so the most experienced people are always leaving. This means most teams a composed of mostly fresh grads, with only a few senior people left to keep things together.

    Advice to Management

I think they should focus on retaining talent, because relying on a stream of cheap fresh grads costs far more than paying experienced people to stay. I've seen people leave who were probably worth 5+ fresh college grads, but only paid about 1.5x as much. Some people who have worked here for many years make only a few grand more than fresh hires with zero experience, giving very little incentive to stay.
