    Pros

This is a company that really cares about its employees. While we worked hard, made our deadlines, and delivered on a great product, management is flexible and attentive. You'll find friendly people who are focused on doing great things for its clients and their customers. The product offering is solid and the best in the industry. If you're interested in bid data projects, Certona has huge amounts of data from which it discerns and creates customer value.

    Cons

Reviews are sometimes late at Certona and yet I was never under-appreciated by management for my contribution.

    Advice to Management

Perhaps rebalance the staffing of the organization. It seemed a bit heavy on the services side. I think too a review of market salaries and comparison would be helpful for retention.

    Pros

Exciting technology with growing business opportunities to expand company into something hugely successful. Small advancements into newer technology could leapfrog company into amazing technical solution.
    Benefits up to industry standards.

    Cons

Lack of vision and clarity from upper management is an anchor holding company back. No clear organizational structure or chain of command to make decisions so finger pointing and blaming are king. Long term employee belittles and personally attacks other team members without reprimand. Fearing they will lose this valued long-term employee top management has watched others leave due to toxic work environment caused by long-term employee's bullying.
Pay range is at least 10% below industry standard.

    Advice to Management

If you expect people to stay, fix the toxic work environment and the bullying. Strike a clear vision for employees. Publish an org chart showing areas of responsibility.

    Pros

    - Industry leader with a clear competitive advantage
    - Innovative, challenging, and exciting environment
    - Competitive company with a profitable bottom line (not over-leveraged)
    - Start-up that has successfully grown into a small company with opportunities for personal growth
    - If you put in hard work and dedication, you will be recognized
    - Fun culture with great people
    - Great location

    Cons

    - At times, communication around company status/progress can be slow and things get heard through the grapevine before officially announced
    - Some resource constraint pain normally associated with small company growth

    Advice to Management

Keep up the communication to ensure the company employees know what is happening. Part ways with those employees who are not contributing to the bottom line.

    Pros

The people working at Certona are great. The eRetail industry is also fun to work within.

    Cons

Often there is more work than any human can possibly complete within the given time constraints, and the pay is not very competitive.

I have been working at Certona (More than a year)

    Pros

    - Solid product that is a market leader
    - Not too many long days here, work/life balance is good.

    Cons

    - There's no management layer between senior leadership and the individual contributors. For example, we have VPs and a CTO, but there's no managers between then and the resources doing the work. The leaders don't have the time and don't communicate progress, so it's a major issue to keep work moving.
    - Micromanagement is king here! Nothing gets done here without multiple managers involved and multiple meetings.
    - "It's not my job" or "I've done my part" are phrases you hear a lot...no team mentality or everyone working together to keep customers happy.
    - Compensation is average, no bonuses, and average benefits.
    - Certona really is against working from home partly or flex hours.

    Advice to Management

    - There's been a major wave of people leaving the company this summer including employees that have been here for many years...it's time to evaluate why people aren't happy and jumping ship. Free junk food and monthly birthday cakes won't be enough to keep people here in my opinion.
