401K, holidays, many options to move around in new positions

Depressing at time due to tough GA market, sales organization is sub par

    Advice to Management

Keep the Beechraft name on the next gen turbo prop

I have been working at Cessna full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Decent job security, good friends, freedom

    Cons

Management, upper management, HR, you know all the typical things that kill moral and productivity. Before 08-09 layoffs this was a very family friendly company, now its ran by former intern idiots who have no ideas what's going on.

    Advice to Management

Look after your long time employees, we still work hard and we know what this company is capable of. Letting management and HR delay hiring and stuff us full of crap policies is killing what used to be the best job I had ever had.

I have been working at Cessna as an intern (More than a year)

    Pros

    Flexible in projects
    People are nice in general
    Benefits are nice

    Cons

    Terrible upper management
Management DOES NOT listen to the people under them
    They set unrealistic time goals
    They cannot manage documentation
They hire contractors WITHOUT vetting them first, so you have to baby sit them
They do not care about design patterns or code reviews.

    Advice to Management

    Listen to your developers.
Ask if they need a contractor before you go and hire them.

I have been working at Cessna full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

There are no pros at this company. The management is tearing these plants apart. Someone is not overseeing what these so called managers are doing.

    Cons

This company is poorly managed by the upper management personnel. Textron has allowed Cessna to rape and pillage Beechcraft and they don't treat anybody fairly.

    Advice to Management

Get new management that will do their jobs.

    Pros

Unfortunately, I feel all the "pros" are in our past.

    Cons

The wrong people are being put in leadership roles and those more valuable and with the skills to lead & inspire, I see more and more of them shown the door.

I have been working at Cessna full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Good learning opportunity, exposure to complete aircraft design at one particular place. Good benefits and health insurance coverage. Educational cost covered.

    Cons

Salary is not so much competitive. Bonus and additional compensation could be added. Current market is not so good for commercial jets.

I worked at Cessna as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Great people
Lots of opportunities to get involved in other areas of the company
Free-Very Cheap ground school and flight lessons for all employees
    Work was engaging and enjoyable

    Cons

Was told by some engineers that every morning they hate coming in to work because they see it as a dead end where they can't progress

    Advice to Management

Try to be more visible to employees. Employees tend to see the management as a group within their own bubble that never interact with those under them.

I worked at Cessna full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Like I said made three really good friends there. I liked the time that I got to spend with my family.

    Cons

Everything. This company is more worried about the bottom line then figuring out where their problems lay. The management will straight up lie to your face or tell you to deal with it when you are dealing with Co workers that are harassing and rude. The time that I was on the last line I worked on was the worst experience I have had in 8 plus years of aircraft. I would not recommend this company to my worst enemy. The "ole timers" there mainly run the ships cause the management has no clue what they are doing. No wonder they had to sell to textron, sorry but you guys need to learn how to run your shops better.

    Advice to Management

Learn to work on airplanes and not lawn mowers. Think about your employees more instead if looking good for your upper bosses. Take a management class cause I know fast food managers that could do your job better then you do.
