I have been working at Chamberlain University for more than 3 years

    Pros

Good class sizes, good course platforms

    Cons

No incentive for working years, no incentive for good performance except possible every 8 week contract. It doesn’t matter if you have a poor or excellent performance as a Visiting Professor. The pay never changes.

    Disapproves of CEO

I worked at Chamberlain University full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Close to home Other faculty Student Advisors are great Most students are committed to learning Simulation tools

    Cons

Micromanagement; cameras to monitor all activity & used in punitive ways Management creates atmosphere of mistrust and low morale; inept Turn over rate is extremely high. No contract. No job security. Most faculty has little or no teaching experience Students treated as customers-inters with ability to teach in a professional manner that encourages critical thinking and self-direction. Teach to a test. Workload overbearing & unrealistic. Pressured to teach outside of scope of practice. Private school. Year round teaching. Must take vacations during student breaks. Low pay for amount of work required. No summers off.

Assistant Professor in Tinley Park, IL
    Doesn't Recommend
    Negative Outlook
    No opinion of CEO

I have been working at Chamberlain University

    Pros

Tinley Park campus is easy to get to!

    Cons

The students being accepted into the nursing school barely have command of the English language, despite English being their 1st language. Most of the students are sub-par with more than 50% of the students admitted to the program having failed a nursing program at a better school. The nursing program at Chamberlain is an accelerated nursing program. The students blame the faculty when they are unsuccessful at learning a subject in 8 weeks that other schools teach in 16 weeks, while working one or more jobs, and raising a family - with below average intellect. The NCLEX pass rate is rapidly declining and campus management has no clue how to make improvements.
