I worked at Champion Energy Services full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The people are really friendly, and being exposed and learning about the energy industry was such a great experience. A lot of ambitious people so that in turn made you want to work hard.

    Cons

No room to grow. Was stuck at the same position with really only lateral movement within the company. No opportunity to work in a different department.

    Advice to Management

Give people an opportunity to move up if they show the time and dedication. If not the opportunity, at least give them new tasks that challenges them and learn new things.

I have been working at Champion Energy Services full-time

    Pros

Easy to learn systems. Not too many pros.

    Cons

Since Calpine took over, low raises. Not career growth

I worked at Champion Energy Services full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Good, hard working people committed to their job.

    Cons

Too many manual processes, no appreciation for your commitment, no growth opportunities. A lot of people are moving on.

    Advice to Management

This would be useless, they don't care.

    Pros

The people you work with are down-to-earth and understanding. They provide great training to get your comfortable with their internal systems and practices.

    Cons

The pay is WAY below average, and they are currently on a hiring freeze that does not allow them to hire anyone on full-time.

    Advice to Management

Be upfront with potential employees. Don't wait 2+ months to tell them they aren't going off of contract rates anytime soon.

    Pros

    Good honest hard working people.

    Cons

If you are not part of upper management's circle you will not go anywhere. Favorites are very clear at the VP level and they will throw you under the bus.

    Pros

This company is very flexible with your schedule, and it makes you feel most of the times like you are part of it.

    Cons

Lack of sense of urgency probably due to a low pre-planned budget which blocks hiring qualified people to do the job.

    Advice to Management

None, they know what they should be doing.

I worked at Champion Energy Services full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Very motivating company to work for. Lots of flexibility as a result of the size of the company. Very quick to get decisions made and answered.

    Cons

Home office too far from everything with lots of traffic in Houston.
Small company so large corporations hesitate to consider you.

    Advice to Management

Move home office to another location in Houston so employees aren't driving 2 hours to work and back each day just to stay at their choice of employment.

I worked at Champion Energy Services full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

The employees are friendly and easy to work with.

    Cons

I was the top performer on my team. I trained my manager and everyone that came through the door in our department. I was given more work and extra responsibility and only a $.25 - $.40 per year increase while performing job duties enough for three to four people daily. I worked for Champion Energy Services 5 years and never received a promotion.

The raises probably wouldn't be so bad if their starting salaries were at all competitive. Champion Energy Services is one of the lowest paying energy companies in Texas according to my diligent research and offers from other energy companies.

    Advice to Management

Select employees according to job performance and not according to someone else's emotions. Basically be a professional.

I worked at Champion Energy Services full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Free coffee, close to airport, it is close to major freeways i45, hardy toll road and beltway8.
Commute from woodlands area will take you 25 min.

    Cons

I worked in this company for little less than a year and discovered that there is too much of politics and micro management..in my entire career, I haven't seen any company where the IT team is so inconsistent and constantly failing in meeting their goals.
Very unprofessional, glad not to be associated with them anymore

    Advice to Management

If u choose to join, keep upper management in your friends list cauz that's how u will grow. Good luck
