I worked at Champion Home Builders full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Awesome benefits, excellent management team, plenty of work to do.

    Cons

You're not an employee, you're a number and easily replaced.

    Pros

Champion Homes was a great place to work. The owner was down to earth and took care of the customers and subcontractors to the best of his ability. Shay the owner handled every situation in a kind, calm headed professional manner. Home Owners never had a cross word to say about him

    Cons

Shay (owner) was to trusting. there were multiple subcontractors that over charged or double charged for their services. I was able to find these over charges and point them out on multiple jobs and no action was taken. Some home owners asked for a ridiculous amount of "free add ons" and they were met. I looked out for the company but shay seemed to look out for the subcontractors and home owners more so than his inside help. He was a very good person with great intensions but poor judgment

    Advice to Management

Trust your employees until they have given you a reason not to trust them. Take care of your employees and they will take care of you.

I worked at Champion Home Builders full-time

    Pros

Employees are nice/friendly, decent vacation time/holidays, health benefits, casual Fridays, summer flex hours, bonus potential.

    Cons

Corporate office departments are VERY lean with the exception of Accounting/Finance. Internal Audit had 1 employee running the show for 6 months, IT/HR are lean with all new employees. Turnover is huge! No 401k match

    Advice to Management

Practice what you preach. If you say something, do it - actions speak louder than words! CEO needs to be present more and active with what's actually going on.

    Pros

Great company and culture with a very collaborative working environment. Executive management was very accessible and made a strong effort to engage all the corporate employees to achieve the company's short-term and long-term goals.

    Cons

The company was private equity owned so some decisions were driven by the capital holder's short-term vision vs. what may have been best for the company in the long-term.

    Pros

Good people to work with as long as it's not in management. Pay is OK as long as it's not at a plant on the line.

    Cons

Management is too pushy and they don't listen. Huge turnover because it's hard to fit in. Most use it as a stepping stone about a year or two and move on.

    Advice to Management

Try to remember that manufactured housing is not made of bricks and therefore have a lot of issues.

I worked at Champion Home Builders full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I found Champion Home Builders, Inc to be a very nice company to work for. The pay is good for the area of the country where I live. The benefits are good and in general the people are very nice to work with.

    Cons

I found that some employees were expected to go above and beyond with their work, while others were allowed to do the bare minimum necessary. The ones that gave the extra effort were not rewarded and the ones that did the minimum were never told to perform better.

    Advice to Management

Before releasing a good employee, consider asking others to step up their work effort.
