Reviews about "low pay"

Pros
Work with Kids That is the only Pro that is available since the Cons outweigh any positives Good for retirees and those who have an alternate source of income.
Cons
This is NOT a full time position even though it is advertised as such, and employement offers state that it is full time. This is a SPLIT SHIFT POSITION Schedule is 640am to 9am then 330pm to 630pm This varies as well, but that is only 5.5 hours a day IF you get an open and close shift which rarely happens. Pay is min wage or 11.00/hr depending on location Timeclock requires employees to use their own mobile phones and data plan, with no compensation from the company Massive Sexual Harrasment There is NO TEACHING INVOLVED IN THIS POSITION, you are a babysitter. You do not teach. Extremely high turn over rate Management is not supportive of employee concerns unless you are in the inner circle Management failed to pay employees final paychecks when leaving the company Teachers are moved from school to school, creating an unstable environment for the children NO HR DEPARTMENT Teachers are expected to 'sell' the program to perspective parents Teachers are expected to expend their own money for supplies that are not provided with minimal compensation, however, if activities are not completed, teachers are found to be at fault. No consistency Lack of empathy for employee concerns - one employee was told that they had to come to work and miss a funeral of a friend who was killed in a tragic car accident. This employee was basically told, go and come back. Also, they were asked to justify the length of the absence. No supply budget Safety issues are not addressed in a timely manner Management has cut hours and other costs in order to receive a yearly bonus for coming in under budget, at the expense of the teachers and children Management does not seem to care about the wishes of the schools that the program is in. District is not happy with the program Job has turned in to 'how much money can be made' and not in the best interest of children or employees Job has a dress code, but it seems that it only applies to certain employees Consistently out of ratio

We're so glad you've found a connection to working with kids and building great relationships with them. KinderCare is about children first -- and that means a leadership that is both business-savvy and mission-driven. We believe compassion is key, positive work environments are a must, and to always be learning how to do better. Our mission of childcare isn't just a business decision, it's a heartfelt calling -- and that should be reflected in what we do. We are sorry that is not your experience. If you'd like to provide more detail or to see how we can better support, you can always reach Employee Support or the TA team here at kindercarejobs@kc-education.com. Thank you for your feedback! It helps us gauge how we're doing and where we can grow.

Pros
Everyone that I've worked with is really nice. The Area Manager is great, the coworkers are fantastic, and there is a lot of time to get to know the kids. The pay is amazing compared to other places too. Pay is also negotiable - aim high! They are also willing to promote if you are confident and ask for it. Area Manager does genuinely care about the program and making sure employees are heard.
Cons
They throw you to the wolves a little bit. There is no set training, it's more of a learn as you go type thing, which can sometimes work, but sometimes it's chaotic. It can also be hard because everyone doesn't know what you've been taught, so they assume you know something, but you don't. Also, the pay is high, but sometimes the hours are low.

We're so glad to hear you're having a positive time. Building thriving, welcoming teams to build our educational programs to life is vital to the way we do things, and it's fantastic to hear that this is reflected in your experience. We do agree about the importance of training, and are sorry you had a chaotic first experience. We take your thoughts to heart! Thank you for your feedback, and if there is anything else you'd like to share, you can reach us at kindercarejobs@kc-education.com.

Pros
The children are loved and cared for by each teacher
Cons
No support, split shifts, low pay and teacher to ratio always off balance. I've benn working as a teacher here for 19 months and I have been requesting full-time employment however it goes in one ear and out the other. We are constantly being critiqued and no offer of pay raises. The facilities are run down and have holes in walls since I started, filthy rugs and a lack of good preventive measures to dininfect toys, tables, and floors. They refuse to clean with diluted bleach and paper towels. I bring my own from home. Heating and air conditioning are broken and cannot maintain proper temperature's. There is so many things. Lack of computers that work and no internet wifi.

Pros
Kids are great, parents are as well.
Cons
Wouldn’t recommend. Management was terrible, some Site Directors carry themselves with a God-Complex and refuse to help when you’re drowning while understaffed and overworked. On top of that FT employees were responsible for finding your own coverage for your paid vacation time and no one ever wants to cover you so unless you find someone (rare) you’re unable to take time off. The pay was horrible compared to the workload you’re dealt and they refuse to give raises even when you’re deserving of it.

We are sorry to hear you had a negative time, and take your thoughts to heart. It is very important to us that all of our employees feel supported, and we know how important engaged, supportive leadership is to building positive workplaces. We are sorry this was not your experience. We live in unprecedented times in regards to needs for childcare, and we are responding as quickly as we can to the staffing crisis for teachers. People are at the core of how we work and operate, and we strive to create positive communities in all our workplaces. We appreciate your feedback, as it will help us with this goal.
