    Pros

    -Competitive pay
    -great discount
    -semi good management
-opportunity for bonuses and extra pay

As an assistant manager for Champs was awesome. Till 2017 we made commissions off all sales and it was competitive. Made more money in a year here then I did once in product sales with a different company.

You can be selected for travel to different stores for coverage and get a mileage pay out $$$

    Cons

    -Overworked
    -understudied
    -meal policies
    -low key communications

When I first started my manager was always out covering other stores and we had two assistant managers including myself. We would work 45-55 hours which isn’t bad but when you are scheduled 9am-10pm on a Monday, then scheduled Tuesday morning 9am-6pm kind of sucks.

As a ASM you have that SM in front. So when your manager isn’t getting much done but you and your other ASM have ASM work and now the SM is lacking so you have to cover that as well (paper work, hours) all the little boring computer work.

As an ASM you are told “when only 1 key holder or manager is on duty, you must wait until another key holder is on the clock until you can take your lunch... some days you didn’t have another key holder so you have to bring your food. Which isn’t bad but you leave your food nearby and every time you get a chance to go back and grab a shoe take a bite. Don’t get me wrong every now and then we will sit in the back for 5-10 mins and eat but let’s be real, we are a retail store! Most associates during a shift 2-3 weekdays and early weekends GOODLUCK with that chicken and rice.

Don’t get me wrong you can say “I need my lunch” but mainly I NEED THIS JOB. So I will do what is asked of me.

Also managers are not always smart. As an ASM you have access to the email so when you see your SM down talking your “work ethics” kind of hurts you and makes you think what else does he say to keep his head out of sight.

    Advice to Management

Train and interview your store managers a bit better.

I worked at Champs Sports part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    The discount
    Not anything else at all

    Cons

Management uses their laziness to make part time employees do certain jobs that aren't required for part timers. Like shipping items out of the store which is a managers job, or changing the price on an item for a customer. So unprofessional.

    Advice to Management

    Fire everyone

I worked at Champs Sports part-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

    Discount
Getting the hook up on new shoes and even shoes that require a raffle.
Mall employees 10% discount on food

    Cons

Working in sales it’s hard to know if you get all your sales in a day because a lot of the time other associates tend to steal your sale and put it as theirs or if the cashier doesn’t get along with you they will give it to someone else. There is always drama in retail but there were some good former employees. Management plays favorites. Management will talk about every employee not in a good way. When working in sales management practically makes you chase every customer making the experience and connection not genuine. When you don’t end up making as many sales as other associates management makes you feel like crap by talking down on you. They will cut your hours to make an example out of you. When doing inventory or shipment try to stay as far away as possible from that duty because you get dust mites all over you.
