I have been working at Changi Airport full-time for less than a year

    Pros

The people here are awesome, really help you to get used to the culture and system. Everyone is passionate and driven.

    Cons

Some systems are quite complex, so you will need to really be used to them and record all the steps down.

I have been working at Changi Airport full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Stable job, good brand name, decent pay. Good to start out as a fresh graduate but you must really like the culture to stay long term

    Cons

Lots of layers between you and the top management. Even thought it's supposed to be a privatised company, some elements of civil service still exist

I worked at Changi Airport full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

    Great pay, benefits, lovely environment

    Cons

Long hours, expected OT, competition is high and dirty. Politics are rampant and way dirty, management doesn't step in. Some bosses and managers are great, however, some are incompetent and have no interest in developing you - They'll rather develop themselves (see point on competition) Middle managers are more obsessed about self promotion and credit taking rather than developing Promotions in some departments are purely political - some high performers have never seen promotion in 5+ years, some low performers but heavy bootlickers are promoted every other year Some departments have a big disconnect between bosses and staff - Senior Mgmt has no idea what middle mgmt is doing, let alone the staff. Example? Some staff don't even turn up for work and claim to be at "meetings"!

I have been working at Changi Airport full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Good management, AWESOME benefits, given exposure if you are willing to prove your worth

    Cons

High pressure to perform. What to expect when everyone is of calibre. Best to parachute in rather then climb your way up. Alot of effort.

I worked at Changi Airport for less than a year

    Pros

    - Good pay and bonuses (based on your position and performance) - Dynamic environment (Relaxing and motivating atmosphere despite being very fast paced) - Variety of food and retail options (staff canteens and all the food outlets within the airport are accessible for staff) - Strong company brand and reputation - Some commendable initiatives (especially in the commercial side) - Job satisfaction (if you truly share the passion of aviation or making it the World's Best airport, then you will definitely sense fulfilment in your everyday job) - Location (definitely a plus if you are staying in the East)

    Cons

    - Despite being a corporatised company, it still functions like a ministry/ govt stat board. Very hierarchical structure where instructions and initiatives often originate from the senior management and input from the lower subordinates are usually ignored. Tends to import people from govt ministries/stat boards to fill the pipeline for senior management positions. - Preference for second upper students when it comes to hiring fresh graduates (simply reinforces my earlier point). While academics can be a good indicator of performance, it is not necessarily everything. Hiring policies should be reconsidered to look at candidates beyond their paper qualifications - In addition to their penchant for local graduates, the company has its own scholarship programs. Company absolutely favours these overseas scholars. Unless you are one of those "handpicked" talents for development, there is limited development opportunities - In addition, organisation itself is still relatively small. There is little room for movement if those people at the top are not moving (and generally they are not) - Some divisions job scopes/projects have very vague objectives and KPIs- how would you ascertain whether you have improved the arrival experience for passengers through your work? - Focus is shifting from "operational" to one of more "strategic"- Company is spending so much time discussing broad objectives and liking individuals who can talk/present and may not necessarily walk the talk. This is still an airport and day to day operations are still as important as building new terminals/extensions

I have been working at Changi Airport full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Work life balance is acceptable, with the occasional OT during peak periods. Overall company culture is good, with everyone aiming to produce high standard of work Organization is highly focused on developing its people Senior management is focused on sustainable results, which is good in the long run.

    Cons

Work life balance can be very bad in some departments Career progression can be slow at times Be prepared to be thrown into the deep sea as there is no proper structure for a new hire to learn about the industry/role which he/she is assigned to do.
