I have been working at Changi Airport full-time

    Pros

Benefits are good though base is not as competitive. Company focuses at staff welfare and development. In general, staff feel sense of belonging in the company. Bosses strive for the best which is good but can be over-demanding at times.

    Cons

Some divisions are not as cooperative but days get by with close-knitted colleagues and supportive bosses.

    Advice to Management

Emphathise with staff and help us solve problems together.

I have been working at Changi Airport full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Stable job, good brand name, decent pay. Good to start out as a fresh graduate but you must really like the culture to stay long term

    Cons

Lots of layers between you and the top management. Even thought it's supposed to be a privatised company, some elements of civil service still exist

I have been working at Changi Airport

    Pros

    - Very good bonuses and staff benefits - Approachable bosses

    Cons

    - As an entity corporatised from a statutory board, the work processes here are very much government-styled i.e. paper writing, many layers of approval - Meetings seldom start & end on time - Too much emphasis on paper qualifications e.g. good schools, good grades

    Advice to Management

To adopt private MNCs working style

I worked at Changi Airport full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

    Great pay, benefits, lovely environment

    Cons

Long hours, expected OT, competition is high and dirty. Politics are rampant and way dirty, management doesn't step in. Some bosses and managers are great, however, some are incompetent and have no interest in developing you - They'll rather develop themselves (see point on competition) Middle managers are more obsessed about self promotion and credit taking rather than developing Promotions in some departments... are purely political - some high performers have never seen promotion in 5+ years, some low performers but heavy bootlickers are promoted every other year Some departments have a big disconnect between bosses and staff - Senior Mgmt has no idea what middle mgmt is doing, let alone the staff. Example? Some staff don't even turn up for work and claim to be at "meetings"!

    Advice to Management

Sort out your employee behavioural expectations. Seriously. Have some moxy and guts in dealing with errant, dirty staff. Be fair to private degree holders. Have a more robust and anti-bias performance management system. Walk the talk - I think alot of reviewers feel the same. Practice TRUE 360 feedback. - The management's "360 feedback" works by asking PEERS OUTSIDE THE DEPT and SUPERVISORS how an individual... has performed instead of levels above AND below. This is how some middle managers get away with being credit hogs and micro-managing tyrants. Promotions to middle management level have to be thoroughly reviewed. It's no coincidence that a fair number of middle managers have integrity issues, have no interest in developing their team members, attitude issues and heavy involved in politics.

I have been working at Changi Airport full-time

    Pros

    1. Great place to start especially if you are a fresh graduate from a local university. 2. Good exposure to many different business units 3. CEO is energetic and willing to try new business ideas

    Cons

    1. Senior management does not have clear directions and unwilling to try different business ideas 2. Too much red tape 3. Politics 4. Slow progression

    Advice to Management

Do what you preach - how do you expect to change the organization when the top leaders have been here since the start of their career and haven't had the chance to explore what it's like working in an external organization?

    Pros

Good management, AWESOME benefits, given exposure if you are willing to prove your worth

    Cons

High pressure to perform. What to expect when everyone is of calibre. Best to parachute in rather then climb your way up. Alot of effort.
