I worked at Chapin Hill Advisors part-time

    Pros

I’ve worked professionally for jobs all along the East coast, and somehow, among them all, meeting and interacting with Chapin Hill Advisers and its President stood out as an experience worth jotting down on an expired coupon. Working for Kathy was not long and yet… too long. If you find yourself looking to ease your way into the professional field of “Anxiety Induction,” then look no further. The benefits have no end…or beginning, but take this opportunity to impress your new date smelling like dog and bragging about your new position as a punching bag, because at Chapin Hill they can guarantee both. Perhaps if one was applying to be the janitorial manager of the local dog fighting warehouse, having Kathy Boyle on your resume might put you on the top three applicants. Challenge your sense of smell, patience, dignity, and self-respect and apply to Chapin Hill Advisers TODAY!
If you’re smart, weigh this option against volunteering with your local chain gang.

But really, if you actually apply, god bless.

    Cons

Can't really think of any...at the moment.

    Advice to Management

    Yikes

    Pros

There are None!! Negative -5 STARS!!!

    Cons

Absolutely they should be ashamed of the way they treat their employees! Disgusting odor infused work environment. Dog feces, urine, hair & mice nibbling away at everything! The employees are treated like garbage, 0 cash flow. How can an advisor for other people's money even try to run a failing company when they can't even manage their own finances! Not paying employees in a timly manner, talking unprofessionally about other companies and former employees is absolutely dispicable. If your ever offered a position? Run as fast away as you can. DO NOT even consider working in such an unstable environment!!

    Advice to Management

Pay your interns better, treat others professionally, pay your employees too!!
Get a real life job!! Stop trying to fool people. Your company is a joke, wake up & smell the roses!

    Pros

Not one. It was a bleak experience.

    Cons

Inefficient operation, poor cash management, promises made and not kept, misleading forecasts of company goals and revenue, overall unstable environment.

    Advice to Management

Stop believing your company is what it is not and stop selling it as such. Be honest with your employees and take care of them as you promise.

I worked at Chapin Hill Advisors full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Able to learn about various facets of the financial industry with out any formal training.

    Cons

There is a never ending list of high priority projects and heavy work load that have no follow through or organization with insufficient resources or time to accomplish the task. Frowned upon if you took your lunch hour in your 12 hour workday and if you ate in the office it had to be Vegan. Exaggerated promises of benefits that never appeared. If you actually got to use your vacation time be prepared to receive attitude and negativity from the CFO. The Office smelled horribly of dogs and ticks were on the animals and carpeting. There were insufficient funds to pay the necessary bills to run the business that was extremely stressful having bill collectors constantly calling. Finally, the worst problem was the anguish if you were going to receive a paycheck when it was due or if it would have funds...

    Advice to Management

Stop the façade of an upstanding Financial boutique just because they make TV appearances and are on debate panels when they are broke and can't stay afloat.

I have been working at Chapin Hill Advisors part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The pace is very fast and the owner is tremendously talented which means there is always a lot going on. She is a frequent media guest so you see how public relations and media work to benefit the firm. There are many events hosted by the firm which benefit not for profits and serve to promote the firm's image. Clients are varied and intelligent but often demanding as well. This is a great way to gain experience in so many facets. The owner is an avid proponent of animal rescue which I admire.

    Cons

There is little training as it is a small firm. You are expected to be very organized and a self starter as you are not micro-managed. This is not the place for someone looking to hide or a slacker. If you are not up to the tasks, you will not fit in and possibly affect your self esteem. If you are not an animal lover, this is also not the place for you to be. It is made very clear in the interview process that the pace is demanding and dogs are in the office.

    Advice to Management

Creating training manuals for new tasks needed to be executed and operational tasks would be helpful.

    Pros

Working here will give you the skills to juggle many different and challenging tasks at once. You will learn how to challenge difficult situations while being exposed to interesting clients.

    Cons

Management is extremely unprofessional and at times very scary and unstable. The president invites you into her home to take care of an excessive amount of pets (15+) it is very unsanitary and smells like a cess pool. Pets are aggressive, large, and scary.

You DO NOT get paid on time, or at all. They will tell you that they don't have the money right now. You will likely receive less than half of your negotiated wage and be told checks are in the mail just to find out that they never actually come, or often the checks bounce. You can try and try to work with them, but they will continually let you down. If you get on management's bad side they will slander you.

This is the WORSE place that I have ever worked and I urge anyone considering a position here to reconsider. It was the biggest let down I've ever encountered.

    Advice to Management

Treat employees fairly, improve working environment (reduce amount of pets and smell of urine in office), pay employees on time and at the appropriate negotiated wage.

There are no pros to this job.

    Cons

As one of the presidents latest employees, as well as one of her only 2 employees at the time (who both quit due to not being paid) I can assure you that she is a liar, cheater, and complete psychopath. The last three 5 star reviews were written by her as she has not had an employee since and I left this year. She cheats her employees and customers out of there money. Her house/office is filthy and could be considered a biohazard. She is unprofessional and immature. Not to mention completely broke- her checks bounce every month! I would not recommend this company to any person who wants to be treated like a human being.

    Advice to Management

Look at where you are now as an individual and business. Now every time you start to blame someone else for your mistakes stop and realize that you are the sole reason you are where you're at today.

It's a great learning experience, good, bad and otherwise.

    Cons

Have to work with the crazy owners pets (MULTIPLE) and they smell. She's one client loss away from total bankruptcy and is a metal case. I CAN GUARANTEE the only glowing review this nutcase received is from herself.

    Advice to Management

    Pros

Besides its convenient location in midtown, there is nothing good about this company. Oh, I also guess that if you're an animal person, you'll enjoy the dogs roaming around the office.

    Cons

Management likes to abuse of employees, especially interns. They pay them twenty dollars a day stipen to do the full time job of an office manager, personal assistant, and puppet. Then, management (by which I mean the sole proprietor of the company) uses this twisted manipulation trip whereby she's really nice sometimes and then becomes a completely different person if you slip up once (and her standards of slip up are very vague). For the life of you, don't take this job if you value your humanity.

    Advice to Management

Leadership, if you can be called that, please quit.
