I have been working at Charah full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Good compensation/benefits. Great culture. Enjoy the fast pace. Very willing to allow input from all areas of the company.

    Cons

None that I can think of

    Advice to Management

Retain the same spirit you have now as the company continues to grow.

I worked at Charah full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The field people that worked for me were great but management above me eh

    Cons

The down side of Charah is that the upper management has no clue of how construction operations work. If it concerns dirt work they are lost as Tom Hanks in Castaway. Ash Management is suppose to be their forte, I think not so much, Upper management above superintendents(fancy name for Foreman) has no idea how field operations go by setting unreal goals, I would not recommend anyone working for them unless you like working unplanned days with no end in sight and doing things multiple times because someone in the office doesn't know how things work, or you are really fond of micro micro managing if you like all that then Charah is the place for you.

    Advice to Management

Learn what your doing before you start micro managing people that know what they are doing or here is a idea trust the people you hire to do the job you hire them to do.

    I worked at Charah full-time

    Pros

    I can't think of any

    Cons

Horrible management. Inconsistent pay scale, Too much worry about things that do not matter, and not enough regarding the things that do.

    Advice to Management

    Do better...

I have been working at Charah full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great safety program, new equipment, good people to work around at the hourly employee level.

    Cons

safety isn't first. No matter how many "zero tolerance" rules are broken, depending on who you are, you get a pass while hourly employees are fired on the spot. safety specialists who have zero experience and zero knowledge, blindly leading employees into termination. osha violations by safety staff only further their career.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your people in the field that actually do the job. Blindly hiring people that have zero experience because of the overwhelming growth is not the answer. Some of your safety specialists are lazy, incompetent and have zero knowledge. They break more rules than anyone else while their management pretends to do their job. Maybe listen to site level people when it comes to those folks.

I have been working at Charah full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Loyal to people who give them 100%. They demand a lot but you can get a lot. Family owned and operated

    Cons

Lots of late night phone calls and emails. Family life can be asked to be put on hold for big projects

    Advice to Management

Other companies have more incentive programs to push the boundaries. For both the managers and hourly staff.

    Pros

Great team environment. Sites I have worked at have a management team that helps you succeed.

    Cons

Corporate office is in Ky which can make communicating a little difficult

    Advice to Management

Visit all sites as often as you can to build relationships with the crew members.

    Pros

Pay is ok. Made good friends. Schedule is a little flexible.

    Cons

Seems that the higher ups in management know how to run a brand new operation more efficient than the people that already work it and have made the appropriate changes. LOTS OF FAVORITISM. Can't refer anyone to job because of favoritism (basically, if you aren't part of the "club" then we don't care) New ideas aren't welcome. Open door policy is non existent. The safety culture is subject to change depending on production, again, if not moving fast enough then safety doesn't matter anymore.

    Advice to Management

We are not robots, we are people. This is not high school, this is the real world. Get to know your employees and take note when you have lots of seniority quit and get new jobs. If that is happening then something needs to change.

    Pros

    Company does pay employees well.

    Cons

Management will fire anyone who attempts to do their job correctly and management who works under him will lie and decieve to cover up management error

    Advice to Management

Hire management that does not treat their employees as pawns and dismiss them when they will not cover up for managements mistakes.
