I have been working at Charles L. Crane Agency full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Good benefits, time off and stability.

    Cons

Unless you are a revenue producer your time and schedules are not respected. Support staff put in many extra hours to stay on top of things.

    Advice to Management

Realize that people know how to do their jobs, respect their schedules, value their input and don't work them to death.

I worked at Charles L. Crane Agency full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Benefits were okay. 401k match wasn't bad, but had to wait 6 months to get it. Get to leave 30 minutes early on Friday. Interesting fitness plan.

    Cons

Terrible atmosphere. Producers allowed to yell at employees. Very high turnover. No career growth.

    Advice to Management

Watch your producers' behavior before it becomes a lawsuit against your company.

    Pros

Crane is an established Agency and the oldest independent Agency West of the Mississippi. Employees are given automony to do their jobs.

    Cons

Sometimes there appears to be a lack of communication from upper management to employees regarding the strategic vision of the organization.

    Pros

Nice work environment, fun employee activities, profit sharing, other employees are helpful

    Cons

Lack of advancement, lack of recognition within unit

    Advice to Management

Depends on the Unit you work for, but I would say have employees be paid by the agency not the producer.

    Positive Outlook

I have been working at Charles L. Crane Agency full-time

    Pros

Entrepreneurial atmosphere, friendly staff, ability to get ahead if ambitious, solid history, focused on growth and supporting those willing to strive for it.

    Cons

Perception of segmentation from the outside looking in. The company is seemingly working to bridge this gap and move forward in unison. New marketing campaign and Sr. Leadership seem to be steps in te right direction.

    Advice to Management

Find ways to motivate agents to grow their block of business which will benefit everyone in the end. So much potential left on the table.
