I have been working at Charles River Development full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

CRD is a financially stable company; software has great reputation and recognition in industry.
Mostly very smart people focused on getting their job done (slackers beware - there is a low tolerance threshold for incompetence). Comfortable work environment. I don't see much micromanagement. and I don't think there is as much 'politics' as most other companies.
Good training program. Gym in the building.

    Cons

Would like more flexibility to work from home.

    - Strong growth even through the financial downturn
    - Selective hiring and low tolerance for incompetency means high caliber colleagues
    - They cover the gamut of financial investments so lots of challenges and opportunities to learn
    - Management focused on continual improvement to efficiency and processes
    - Commitment to long-term growth and invests in projects that will not have a return for years out

    Cons

    Pros

You have to understand the business logic in depth. And then find the best way to create software that meets those requirements.

    Cons

The architecture is fairly fixed as is the user interface.

I have been working at Charles River Development full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Experience in C# and java, as well as many other technologies. Also finance and investing are great to learn about. Great pay too!

    Cons

enterprise software is limited by the customers desires, not as fast paced development as a young mind such as myself may want. The clients may not ask for cutting edge developments because they are stuck in their ancient ways.

    Advice to Management

Management is great, the company is great for what it is and I have no complaints about the management. Scrum/Agile methodology is sometimes a hindrance to real work.

The product is very complex and you are challenged on a daily basis. It's hard work but fun.
For the most part, you can set your own work schedule ==> Good Work - Life balance.

    Cons

Development departments work in silos. There is no VP providing leadership across all departments

    Pros

This company has the smartest people with whom I have ever worked. Everyone is focused on the task at hand. As a Recruiter, I get great cooperation form the hiring managers and the interview teams. We hire only the best and brightest and that is a real recruiting challenge but that's what makes the company so successful!

I have a great Manager who effectively directs the Recruiters and provides constant guidance, assistance, and leadership. Having been with CRD for over 10 years, he offers great advice with any issues relating to candidates or the hiring process.

    Cons

    None that are worth mentioning.
