I worked at Charlotte Country Day School for more than 5 years

    Pros

Summer employment, teaching, education, enrichment, summer camps

    Cons

Only certain weeks of the summer, supplies come from your profit

    Advice to Management

When working for the summer camps, there are wonderful opportunities to teach students ages K-12. You have to go through a background check and then if your proposal is accepted, you will meet with the summer camp directors. It's a good job, just know your supplies/costs will come out of your percentage of the profits.

I worked at Charlotte Country Day School full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Great professional development opportunities! Excellent professional development funding and encouragement by management to pursue things. Some wonderful families and students who are exceptional to teach.

    Cons

Tolerance for political games and manipulation by management. Depending on the department, some people get away with horrible behavior and it is glossed over by management. They have excuses for allowing poor behavior, climate of fear of reporting. Needs to be addressed globally.

    Advice to Management

Manipulative department/coworkers need to be addressed and given consequences by management.

I worked at Charlotte Country Day School full-time

    Pros

CCDS is a great place to work. The faculty and staff collaborate, are friendly and care about each other and the students. There are great professional development opportunities and staff tend to stay for many years.

    Cons

Teaching students at such an academically rigorous level is hard work but any good school requires that and they allow for great time off and assistance.

    Positive Outlook

I worked at Charlotte Country Day School full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Great atmosphere with strong community support, good people to work for and with. Coaching as a teacher gives you another connection to your students, AND they pay you for that - many private school don't. The really big benefit, if you have kids, is the full tuition remission for two kids per employee. This is rare - most private schools offer only partial remission.

    Cons

In an effort to be on the cutting edge of education, there was a tendency to try to spin too many plates.

    Advice to Management

Be strong enough in who you are to resist the temptation to be everything - the foundation that the school has established is solid.
