I worked at Charming Charlie full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Amazing co-workers. My manager was always giving honest feed back and allowed me to handle tasks on my own.

    Cons

Salary is not great for the amount of work they make you do. However, you get to work with many experienced people which allows you grow. I was more concerned about my professional advancement at that point so the pay did not really matter

    Advice to Management

    Increase salary

I worked at Charming Charlie full-time

    Pros

Not many, if any, real positive things to say about this company.

    Cons

I wish I could find something good to say, but in all actuality it's by far the worst company it's been my misfortune to work for. After being there for 3 months I flooded my resume on the street and was able to find something else. Management hasn't a remote clue as to how to run a company.

    Advice to Management

I wish I could give you some advice, but the fact is the senior management team all needs to be fired. You people don't have the sense to run a Lemonade stand. YOU'RE BY FAR THE WORST SENIOR MANAGEMENT TEAM IT'S BEEN MY MISFORTUNE TO WORK WITH. YOUR COMBINED IQ'S CAN'T BE MUCH ABOVE PLANT LIFE. I feel like I was finally freed from the asylum.

I worked at Charming Charlie full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Lots of great people with best intentions

    Cons

Washed up, unqualified leadership in way over their heads.

    Advice to Management

Clean house. Start at the top.

I worked at Charming Charlie full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

A very diverse company that does a good job with making sure we do have some fun. They attract talented people, but can't seem to keep them

    Cons

The company culture is inconsistent across departments, there seems to be a lot of people turning blind eyes to critical issues. Management shows up for pep rally's but not much else. Morale is low, people are leaving in droves and for some reason management doesn't seem to care.

A lot of good people work here and then leave - and the thing is they don't want to leave

    Advice to Management

Pay attention to the details, why are talented people leaving left and right. Look at the departments with the highest turnover and get rid of their leaders.

I worked at Charming Charlie full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Well appointed offices
    Everyone is polite
    Nationwide brand
    Individuals are friendly
New management has some people hopeful

    Cons

Wouldn't recommend working here if you are looking for a career
It's a good foot in to the retail industry, leave after you have 1 year experience
    HR's hands are tied
People are afraid of losing their jobs and creates a weird company culture
Employees are playing musical chairs - moving from department to department to fill gaps left by layoffs and departures
Currently employees comprised of a mix of new hires, people actively seeking new positions, and veterans who intend to stay long term
Business won't last another 5 years if this continues
    Incompetent mid level staff

    Advice to Management

Be open minded in general. Doing things the way they have always been done or copying off of competitors that are innovating won't keep the business afloat for long. Hire young creative change agents to help with change. Don't recruit change agents from within, if they can't handle their area of business with any innovation why would they be able to affect change in the company as a whole. Take calculated risks to cut costs and increase revenue. Think outside of the box.

I worked at Charming Charlie full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Absolutely the people! I was there for over 5 years and I wouldn't have stayed as long if it wasn't for the people I met there along the way. (in reference to positions in same level and below in the structure as well as the admins) We went to happy hours after work together, collaborated well on new concepts and made it easier to go to work every day.

    Cons

Recruiting experienced managers at buyer level. Poor work-life balance. Taking value in the employees who are most passionate about the brand.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your employees about new product ideas and concepts, carefully and cautiously think about the whole process before starting an new big strategy for the brand. Take more steps in the interview process and testing before bringing on new managers within merchandising or promoting managers from within.

    Pros

Great team atmosphere. They really work hard at making everyone feel accepted and included.

    Cons

Salary is beneath market value. Heavy turnover in IT leadership has lead to a lack of maturity in the organization and conflicting goals.

    Advice to Management

Take a step back from fighting the fires and focus on maturing the organization by hiring good people and paying them market value so this company is not just a stepping stone.
