I have been working at Chart Industries (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Great people in low-level positions. Good benefits, great paid holidays and vacation time.

    Cons

Poor communication from management. Unwillingness to change - too much "but that's the way we've always done it". Not a lot of women in upper-level positions.

    Advice to Management

Get rid of the spineless "yes men" who are only there because they know somebody. Bring in new blood and actually listen to their ideas and implement their changes.

I have been working at Chart Industries full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

My coworkers and my immediate manager are supportive and cooperative. There is a strong team atmosphere where everyone helps to complete the work.

    Cons

The business is currently down due to low gas prices. There have been many layoffs over the past year. Current morale is down but it will get better when gas prices rise.

    Advice to Management

Be more direct with communication and let employees know about layoffs before they are public knowledge. It is awkward to hear about layoffs at your company from others outside the company.

    Negative Outlook

I worked at Chart Industries full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

A great place to work with good benifits and overtime available when orders are pending. Strong union representation and a good relationship with management.

    Cons

When energy costs are down so is business and production. The overtime is no longer available and layoffs will begin to happen.

    Advice to Management

Better scheduling is a must in a business that wants to use Lean initiatives. Rewarding hard workers will build incentive to achieving production goals. While holding parties reponsible for actions or in actions will keep quality standards high.

I worked at Chart Industries full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Good group people to work with. They take care of their employees and they are very flexible regarding dr appts, etc.

    Cons

Communication between departments, plants and corporate could be improved. Other than those that I listed, no other complaints to speak of.

    Advice to Management

Listening to and working with the employees could be improved. There needs to be an understanding and a distinction between what they "think" is happening in the plants vs what the reality is.
