I worked at Chart Industries as an intern

    Pros

    Cons

As far as I interned there, there is no cons for me.

I worked at Chart Industries as an intern (More than a year)

    Pros

The company paid fairly well for a co-op position. There was a great deal of autonomy afforded to the co-ops as well.

    Cons

Although I was told in the interview that I would receive a raise for every semester, my third semester I was not given a raise not an explanation. There was also very little guidance and structure. I feel like I could have been more involved and ultimately gained more from the opportunity had there been more structure. It was almost a lazy feeling from supervisor, could not be bothered to make the effort to keep me engaged and challenged.

    Advice to Management

Integrate trainees into daily business. Set up a structured program for interns so that there is an opportunity to learn and improve their skills. Get an understanding of where the individual feels weak and offer opportunities for them to learn and improve. Don’t avoid it because you don’t want to be troubled with questions. Regularly have meetings to get and give feedback. Otherwise, one is just left guessing whether their performance is satisfactory or substandard. No expectations=no results.

It is difficult to seek out challenges on your own particularly when you don’t even know your bounds. It is really a missed opportunity for both the company and the student.

Really great community and they offer a lot of training that makes all employees comfortable with what they are working on.

I can't really think of any cons. I would confirm that they have a lot of training sessions in Solidworks and in ANSYS as well.
