I have been working at Charter Communications full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

am working for Charter as a former Time Warner Cable employee and I do feel fortunate to be one of the persons that does get to keep my job. So far there is still Good compensation and benefits, at least in the beginning of the merger transition they have not cut pay, although there have been rumors that pay cuts will come. They have also been generous with 401k and other benefits.

    Cons

A tough culture to work in, very bureaucratic and much micro management. Not very concerned with employees well being or family life. People are expected to work long hours and put company first.

    Advice to Management

Please, please, please.... pay more attention to your employees needs. It is only so long that people can burn the candle at both ends before they have to make tough choices to have a good family life. People should not have to choose between their jobs and their families.

I worked at Charter Communications (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great pay, competitive environment, helpful peers, customer service experience, outstanding benefits.

    Cons

Undesirable shifts, shift bids based on performance which is never ensured. Selling cable and a home phone during this modern day in which they are literally phasing out of people's lives, convincing and almost tricking customers who are low income they have to pay top price or you get knocked on your reviews which is all logged in your performance.

    Advice to Management

    Probably wont be heard.

I worked at Charter Communications full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good pay, great benefits, 401k health ect. No call handle times

    Cons

training is not as helpful as it should be, you learn more OJT. High customer service standards with not many exceptions to things that can be out of your control.

    Advice to Management

Continue to show employees you appreciate them, not just in the beginning and take our feedback more seriously! We work directly with the customers so we are a well of knowledge, use it!

Former Employee - Anonymous Employee in Saint Louis, MO

    Pros

    - No one over your shoulder (freedom)
    - Company vehicle w/ gas card
    - A lot of helpful, knowledgeable co-workers
    - Co-workers turns into your family
    - Possibility for advancement (albeit, your ability to brown nose will affect that more than your numbers)

    Cons

    - Overtakes your life and time
    - Subjected to a lot of disgusting people that never clean their house
    - Customers will try to lie to the company about you stealing stuff, or breaking stuff, to get money
    - A lot of supervisors were NOT quality technicians, they just brown nosed up to being a sup
    - Management is extremely rude
    - Way too many jobs in way too short of time
    - QA specs outweigh realistic amount of time to install/TC
    - Management doesn't want you promoted because sups get % of money per head on their team
    - It is not uncommon for sups to write you up when you are looking to transfer to keep you, because a write up means you can't transfer departments for 6 months.

    Advice to Management

Realise that you're employing family people. We have a life, too, and want to get back. The increasing policies implemented are making the job much less worth it, and the pay is NEVER equal to the job.
