I have been working at Chartwell Retirement Residences part-time for more than a year

    Pros

The Residents are fantastic! Like many healthcare facilities you have a few bad apples, families are hit or miss as well. Love some of my co-workers too!

    Cons

Low pay for a lot more work than you should have to do in a Retirement home.

I worked at Chartwell Retirement Residences full-time for more than a year

    Pros

There aren't many. I learned a lot though. I enjoyed some of my coworkers and the residents, but that had nothing to do with the company itself.

    Cons

Low pay, no appreciation or recognition for hard work, bad management, high turnover, high tolerance for unsafe and irresponsible care of residents (the things I saw were ridiculous). I frequently informed management of employees that were not fit for resident care (neglect, complete lack of nursing knowledge etc) and nothing was done.

    Advice to Management

Stop hiring people that love to power trip. Improve morale to prevent high turnover and expect high quality care. Stop overlooking poor (and dangerous) performance

I have been working at Chartwell Retirement Residences full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Full time Employees get every second weekend off although they prefer to have more part time staff. Working with seniors is a really nice and rewarding thing.

    Cons

Employees get horrible raises, bad benefits and are expected to pull a work load much to heavy for the low pay. The company prefers to hire unqualified workers to look after residents so they don't have to pay them as much.

    Advice to Management

If you want good staff you need a good pay incentive and qualified staff.
