I have been working at Chartwells Higher Education Dining Services full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Chartwells Higher Education is an incredible company that cares about your "why." Why you do what you do and why anyone should care. Essentially, Chartwells prefers to embrace what is unique about each individual associate at every level in order to maximize the service experience for guests. It is a company led by an incredible CEO who understands every position in the field first hand. Her preference is to be in the business having conversations with clients and associates and that personable approach is what separates us from our competitors. If you have ever felt like you had to hide a part of yourself while at work then come to a company that appreciates and encourages bringing your whole self to work.

    Cons

I have yet to experience a downside working for this company. It continues to focus on innovation always placing clients and associates front and center.

    Advice to Management

Even if you do not have experience in the Higher Education industry but do have relevant functional experience and interest then I suggest applying. The industry continues to shift and with different experiences comes innovative thoughts and processes.

I have been working at Chartwells Higher Education Dining Services full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

    Our chefs are rock stars.
We have amazing tenure - nobody leaves us.
Strong focus on diversity and inclusion.
Food is fresh, local and made from scratch.

    Cons

Our environments are extremely busy, as there is always something challenging and important to do on each of our campuses.
Attracting, hiring and retaining hourly staff can be extremely challenging.
The price / value relationship that impacts our students is often reflected in the campus override as students pay top dollar and we work with less.

    Advice to Management

Be open to anyone who wants to join the organization that has a strong desire to serve, who has the hospitality genes and who enjoys watching guests enjoy food. Attitude goes a long way and we can teach them the basics.
