I have been working at Chartwells Higher Education Dining Services for more than 2 years

      Pros

During Fall and Spring Semesters, there is an abundance of work. Company will offer unemployment during the summer.

      Cons

Extreme lack of communication between management and employees. Slow (if any) to promote within and will overlook women for higher positions. Slow (if any) to act on promise wages, benefits or job position. Management will make unfulfilled offers to keep employees from looking for other means of employment. Executive Chef has a tendency to be verbally abusive.

      Advice to Management

Open up your line of communication with employees and do not promise promotions, salary or a different company position if you have no attentions of holding the offer.

I worked at Chartwells Higher Education Dining Services part-time for more than 2 years

      Pros

Since they work at a college campus, they work around class schedules. Raises are given every year. The hourly compensation is more than I would find anywhere else. There are many different places to work on campus.

      Cons

Schedules revolve around the semester, so most employees are laid off for a month for Christmas break and 3 months for summer break; you get unemployment, but it's not steady pay. Lack of communication makes the place run very ineffectively.

      Advice to Management

Communication needs to be improved! None of the managers communicate which means none of the employees have any idea what's going on until the very last minute.
