I worked at Chateau Elan Resorts part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

A good part time job for people who are wanting to get experience in food and beverage. Its a slow pace restaurant job that pays ATLEAST $15 an hour, usually more. The food and beverage director comes off as a little much at first, but once you get to know him he is a really great guy. He has a lot of stress put on him from the VP and the owner to do these great things but wont give him the money to do. Also, the people who are bartenders/servers are usually down to earth people.

    Cons

The VP is an old grumpy man who is disrespectful and doesn't value his employees. The club house is extremely out dated, it looks like a Shoneys restaurant inside because the VP and owner refuses to spend money on the club house. The turnover rate is really high. THE BIGGEST THING, if you are a male server/bartender there make friends with the cart girls! The management doesn't have a system in place to record how much tip the cart girls make out on the course. EVERY cart girl there never reports the correct amount and pockets the rest. if you get in good with them then they will split the money they don't report with you. The money is made out on the course!

    Advice to Management

come up with a better system to monitor money made out on the course. I mean its 2017, and yall cant come up with a better system? money is being stolen from the company and other employees every single day. put some money into renovations or decorations. people pay millions of dollars to live in those houses and to be apart of that club house. they don't want to feel like theyre going to an all you can eat buffet. Stop being so hard on the food and beverage director, that guy literally lives there. Hire people who have stayed at a job for more than a year, the turnover rate is ridiculous. Lastly, the VP needs to fire himself.

I worked at Chateau Elan Resorts full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

There are lots of great people that work here, but many are also looking for different avenues or working other jobs as well so they can make ends meet. Employee price breaks on products are pretty good, wish we could also book rooms, specials, and packages.

    Cons

Monetary compensation is not a priority or even compatable here. You work your butt off and make just barely above minimum wage. Sure, you get a Thanksgiving turkey, but that's once a year....how about feeding your family the rest of the year? Groceries, utilities, fuel, insurance....all that takes cold, hard cash. Chateau Elan had rather spend money on building fancy new buildings than investing in the upkeep/upgrade of what they have. Even some of the regular guests complain about certain areas, and they don't even see the mold that's growing behind closed doors that's kept covered by new tiles!!

    Advice to Management

PRACTICE what you preach! INVEST in your employees! When you commit to upgrade an area, do it, don't put it off for more than 3 years and just keep covering up. If you want good, quality employees -and retain them - you need to raise your pay standards. For a 4 or 5 star establishment, your pay rate sucks!!

I have been working at Chateau Elan Resorts full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

It is a good resume builder. Turnover is very high across the entire company. If you want to change positions or departments, you will certainly have the opportunity to do so.

    Cons

If you are an hourly employee, it's feast or famine. But honestly that is to be expected in the hotel business. Honestly, it has been a frustrating experience. There is a lack of focus and follow through from the Executive Committee. The waste of resources (supplies, labor hours) on the part of staff is disheartening. There is no culture to speak of, which is sad because I think everyone (including the Exec Committee) wants to do well. There is just no guidance, no inspiration, no esprit de corps. That, I guess, is to be expected when corners are cut all of the time.

    Advice to Management

    Please lead by example.
