I have been working at Check Point Software Technologies full-time for more than a year

    Pros

There's a lot of camaraderie and support for each other here. People step in to help you out. The work itself is incredibly interesting and constantly changing. So if you like an environment of new and exciting areas to work on, it's great here. The marketing organization is really rejuvenated since we brought on a new CMO. The work environment is great - lots of group outings, always free lunch, breakfasts on Fridays. You also get to work with some of the brightest and smartest people.

    Cons

The company has a culture that strives for excellence so you often have to iterate on the work till you get to that level. The HQ is in Israel so sometimes the hour difference calls for early morning or late night calls. It's a very value driven company for any expense which creates many processes when it involves spending with external vendors. If you don't watch it, you are bound to gain the Check Point 10 pounds!

    Advice to Management

Listen a bit more to the ideas. Be ready to try some things even if you aren't guaranteed that they will work.

"Dying Company Guided By Horrible Leadership"

I worked at Check Point Software Technologies full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    - Pretty good benefits - There are some great people to work with - Good technology - Great place to get your feet wet because they are one of the few people who will hire you without technology experience (because they pay so poorly, they have to)

    Cons

Check Point is a company that continues to lose market share at a rapid pace due to its outdated strategy and horrific management. The company places no value on sales and that comes straight from the CEO. The company grows at 5% a quarter or even less which is mind-boggling for a cybersecurity company. Their 2 main competitors do not even consider them competition at this point. The culture is horrific as US leadership has zero ability to do anything without Israel's blessing. Everything is micromanaged from Israel which takes forever and creates a culture of resentment. The biggest red flag is the leadership. When you listen to the head of global sales and US sales speak, you realize that they would not be the sales leader in any other tech organization in the world. All hands calls are the most uninspiring things you have ever heard. Many senior managers running the largest accounts in the company have no education beyond high school where peer organizations are being led by MBA's or people with advanced certifications. The company is beyond cheap and it creates a culture that sales managers tell you to lie on expense reports to make yourself whole due to outdated expense policies. The commission structure is unattainable and no one will tell you where your numbers come from or how they got there. This put on top on comp plans that pay people 25 to 40 percent below market value makes for a really bad sales organization that averages over 60% turnover year over year. The icing on the cake is that you will be selling a product that is 25% more expensive versus your competition. Check Point is also considered extremely difficult to work with by customers and partners. Once you leave, you will realize who few people actually want to deal with them. The culture is so bad and if you ever have an issue and go to HR, good luck. It's like working with someone that has the competence of a 3rd grader. Again, you get what you pay for.

    Advice to Management

Check Point will continue to bleed market share unless they have an absolute house cleaning starting with Gil. Get a real board of directors that can offer guidance and bring in people that know how the US market works. Hire someone to run sales that actually has been in sales. Stop being so cheap on everything you do, its really pathetic. You have great technology and should be growing at a rapid pace but you keep dying a slow death. It isnt the sales force, its the leadership.

    Pros

Great job security for at least satisfactory performance and relaxed office environment

    Cons

Lack of visibility with senior management (who sits in Israel), limited career growth opportunities and commission structure makes it difficult to earn bonuses.

I have been working at Check Point Software Technologies full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

If you have the eagerness to learn you will be greatly rewarded and at a quicker pace. Health Benefits are really good. Really high Job Security. Plenty of opportunities to innovate and the company allows you to deploy your creations. Management cares about making things better for the employees and focusing on the customer experience.

    Cons

Compensation starts off slow but can increase quickly after a few years Most of the development team is in Israel which makes customer support very difficult during their holidays and since their weekends start on Friday there is often a gap in update time. Easily get pulled into a poor work-life balance.

    Advice to Management

Keep working on your challenges. There are plenty and you are making great progress.

I have been working at Check Point Software Technologies full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Nice people, trip to Israel for new hires, ability to learn a lot of new skills, innovative company with great products, good benefits

    Cons

centralized management in Israel, overworked and unorganized management in US giving little guidance to new employees, no option WFH (even for extenuating circumstances), serious office culture that doesn't show appreciation for going above & beyond and doesn't attract fresh talent or give them incentive to stay

    Advice to Management

there's HIGH TURNOVER at this company because there's no reason to stay - no WFH options, not a fun office culture, and people are cut down for making mistakes but not lifted up for working hard. Listen to your employees feedback, reward them (even verbally) for hard work, and decentralize management more.

I have been working at Check Point Software Technologies full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Great technological innovations but terrible execution of technology. Israel launches products too soon and before ready for consumers.

    Cons

High turnover company in all areas. Especially in sales. Management treats sales people badly. Compensation plan is terrible for sales and changes every year. Bonus component of compensation is subjective and the company management frowns on giving target bonus to anyone in the company. Commissions are capped. No motivation for good sales people to exceed.

    Advice to Management

Spend time finding out why so many are leaving the company. Create a positive place to work starting with your managers in the field. Stop putting products out to market before ready for consumers.

    Pros

Free lunch Flexible work hours Staff outings Opportunity to visit Israel

    Cons

Aggressive management style Co-workers will steal your lunch (if you don't pick it up in time) Questionable business practices

    Advice to Management

This company has great potential - when upper management eventually realizes they don't have to be involve in every single decision. This is an Israeli company that wants to have a bigger presence in the U.S. At the same time, they do not allow a single American executive to make decisions. Until that happens, the company will continue to function the way it does (which is aggressive, beyond ethics and defying conventional wisdom). The pay is very good (as are the benefits) because deep down, they know they need to overpay employees to lure them there. Genuinely speaking, this is a great job if you are ok with paper pushing and relinquishing every creative part in your brain. But if you are looking to take initiative and pitch your own ideas, be ready to face rejection time and time again. Disappointing too because, as stated above, there is so much potential for this company. But it will continue to shoot themselves in the foot if nothing changes.

    Pros

    - Good products but that’s about it - Great stepping stone - Great place to coast if you want to just rest and vest

    Cons

    - Everything has to be approved by Israel - CEO will blame US sales for lackluster talent without taking ownership on lackluster internal training and development needed to help them become high-performing sales reps (HR won’t help either) - Get ready not to be paid a penny on commission and then expect a statement at the end of they year stating that you owe them money for “overpayment” on commission - Also expect not to make any sense of the commission statements you get - You’d be lucky to even get a comp plan before H2 - By the time you get your bonus, it’s been withheld because of the money you owe for “overpayment” - Just don’t even bother
