I have been working at Cheezburger full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The goal of the office is to "make the world laugh for 5 minutes of their day", so each day you can expect to smile. Dog friendly office... Who doesn't like dogs?

    Cons

If you're looking to raise a family and make a career with internet humor, you came to the wrong spot. Nobody gets paid unless you've been at the company for more than 5 years. Even then, good luck requesting a pay increase. Want a promotion? Too bad... There is no room for any upward mobility.

    Advice to Management

Treat your employees with respect. When your employees are working their butts off, it might be a good idea to give them a pat on the back once and awhile.

I worked at Cheezburger full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Fun set of people
Some (now squandered) potential for mobile success

    Cons

    - Spinning door of management, without any clear direction provided at the top
    - Gimmicky stunts passed off as 'product' or 'innovation'

    Advice to Management

Not much left to say at this point, bit of a comedy of errors

    I worked at Cheezburger full-time

    Pros

Laid back, decent health benefits, I lucked out with PTO accrual.

    Cons

Low wages. Disconnected management, literally no one cares, or mentors anyone.

    Advice to Management

Good thing you sold this company.

    Pros

Really supportive company, they allowed me the freedom to grow in the position and gain a lot of good experience.

    Cons

Unfortunately, the business is going rather poorly. It led to the loss of a lot of jobs and and intense feeling of job insecurity.

    Pros

    - Fun people
    - Fun work
    - Free lunch 1x every other week
    - Sometimes we get beer

    Cons

There has recently been a TON of layoffs. We are down to only about 20 people, and things aren't looking too great. The company still hasn't reached profitability, but management seems optimistic that can happen soon. I don't see Chezburger being around for too much longer.

    Advice to Management

Boost morale ASAP! It's tough seeing so many of your coworkers leave.

Good people, excellent teams, good culture

    Cons

Location isn't the best, large open spaces.

I worked at Cheezburger as a contractor

    Pros

Really awesome, friendly people. Everyone was very upfront about when there was any sort of issue - not too many secrets or hostilities.

    Cons

Open office environment was SO open that I felt uncomfortable talking with people right next to me in more than a whisper. Also, they went a bit wild and let go their entire design staff.

    Pros

The environment is very easy-going, the team is supportive of each other, and employees are valued.

    Cons

As with any smaller company you have to recognize that compensation my not be ideal.

    Positive Outlook

I have been working at Cheezburger full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The team is highly collaborative. Benefits and compensation are competitive, the work environment is fun. There is better leadership and clear strategy/vision over the past six months and the company is now creating good products to go with the zany content.

    Cons

The commute is difficult because lower Queen Anne is hard to get to and Amazon keeps plowing more employees into SLU.

    Advice to Management

Keep raising the bar on employee and management talent. There are many great people who work here (and others who would want to) because they value the culture and like the content. Hold leaders accountable for results.

  10. "Amazing culture but reality distortion field is set to high (to the company's detriment)"

I have been working at Cheezburger full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The most hilarious and fun company to work for ever.
They have a great strategy in place for the coming year.
They have been very profitable over the years

    Cons

Key mistakes are being glossed over and covered up.
"No Drama" buttons handed out at all employee meeting. Terrible way to address feelings.
Primary sources of revenue have been ignored
CEO seems to be widely regarded as a consistent obstacle to productivity.

    Advice to Management

Leadership doesn't require smoke and mirrors when done well.
