I worked at Chemical Bank full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Pay is compairable with good bonuses; initial training is good; often opportunity for advancement or different departmental position

    Cons

HR, Managers, and associates that have worked together for a long time have no problem fabricating scenarios and altering rules to be able to fire you.

    Advice to Management

If an employee comes to you with the same, unchanging complaint for months on end, and you had previous employees with the same complaint, maybe you should look into it instead of saying that we are the ones causing all the issues and making it so bad we want to quit or firing us.

I worked at Chemical Bank full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Company itself is very involved in the community. Company is transparent in communication with employees. I enjoyed working with the regular customers and my coworkers.

    Cons

Local branch manager managed employees very poorly. Favoritism was very obvious. Time was not managed well, between not getting things done for customers and pulling employees off teller line at peak hours resulting in poor customer service. Sometimes manager seemed like helping a customer was interrupting other projects that could have been placed on hold.

    Advice to Management

Make more time for tellers and customers and things will run more smoothly. Stop pulling tellers off the line during peak hours, which can create a hectic environment for both employees and customers. Customers can tell when management and customer service reps feel as if the customer is a bother.

    Pros

The Talmer Bank culture is to encourage volunteerism and do the right thing by co-workers as well as customers. The core values of community, integrity, and service are the real deal here. The Human Resources and Marketing Departments continuously come up with creative ways to keep the positive culture going. There is a high level of participation in employee activities.

    Cons

Since Talmer grew by acquiring failing banks, there are many challenges for the IT department to streamline processes.

    Advice to Management

Continue to do the right thing by employees to keep the positive culture in place. That is what makes Talmer Bank a good place to work.
