I worked at Chemineer full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great people who work hard to achieve a common goal and drive customer satisfaction. The company is now part of National Oilwell Varco and the investments have been beneficial to the organization.

    Cons

The negatives associated with Chemineer are few -- they have addressed many of the shortcomings by investing in the equipment and administrative tools.

    Advice to Management

The new management should continue to invest in the training of its employees - their most valuable asset and provide constant reinforcement of company values.

    Quality products all the time

    Cons

    Boring work and very tedious

I worked at Chemineer as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

Small, friendly office environment. Few levels of management

    Cons

Potentially overbearing manager, limited contact with IT support, purchasing etc.

    Advice to Management

It is extremely lonely, and reduces productivity, to be the only person capable of completing an assigned task.

I worked at Chemineer as a contractor (Less than a year)

    Pros

They are a domain expert company. They have a niche market, and they've nailed it. Their management is amazing, and they're always working to be on the cutting edge!

    Cons

Because they are a niche company, your expertise might not be useful elsewhere. They don't have a lot of good business sense either, they're more technically focused, and have been undercut by other company's more ruthless business practices in the past.

    Advice to Management

Create a real internship program, and then offer those interns jobs!

    I worked at Chemineer full-time

    Pros

Benefits and time off are pretty decent.

    Cons

The management is poor at best. My particular deparment had horrible management. Supervisor was someone who couldn't even look at you when having a conversation and nothing got done by the Team Lead or their Supervisor. Turnover was embarrasing and the Department head did little but talk all day and figure out who to either fire or drive to quitting next.

    Advice to Management

Take a look at your Management Team and the amount of turnover in the departments. Stop putting in new Leadership without checking to see what the company needs.

    Pros

Chemineer has fairly decent benefits, including generous paid time off and holidays. They also provide educational assistance to their employees. At one point in time, there was a decent culture there as well.

    Cons

The salary is usually poor, and the business itself has been slowly going down hill for decades. Lay offs are fairly common, and many people work in fear of being laid off or fired.

    Advice to Management

Grow up. Seriously. Chemineer goes through senior management like Tiger Woods goes through women. Every few years there is a management switch, and their pay is based on how pretty they are. There is a severe lack of communication in general, and most employees who work there live in a state of constant fear. Many people are just waiting to retire.

I have been working at Chemineer full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great office environment, freedom to install software

    Cons

Overly strict on appearance of professionalism, to the point where it harms productivity.

    Advice to Management

+/- 30 minutes and a strict 8 hour work day is hardly worthy of the title "flexi-time".
