I worked at Chemring Group full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

They have decent benefits if you are just into the basics.

    Cons

HR treats you badly if you say anything they don’t agree with. The Executives and the EA give themselves tickets to games and good things to do as perks and the employees have to beg to install an application just to get their job done.

    Advice to Management

Replace HR and the micro managers that don’t care. It’s about team work which they don’t have.

I worked at Chemring Group full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Since CSES is relatively small, you are able to fulfill more roles than if you worked at a larger company. Good 401k match, good health benefits. Interesting products.

    Cons

I would rather be unemployed than work here. Here's why: HR is NOT your friend. If you have a problem, any problem, they will avoid you at all costs and give you the "silent treatment," just like back in middle school. Instead of helping you with problems, they will make your problems worse. Most employees at this company dislike HR. Management is its own worst enemy. Middle management leads by micromanaging. Advice to Management

Get rid of all of it and start from scratch. Try to develop good relations with your only customer. It's the only way the company has a chance to survive.

I worked at Chemring Group full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Semi interesting product. Steady Profits from captive customers. They describe their culture as "old fashioned". A better description would be "backwards".

    Cons

If you like to be treated like an hourly worker punching in and out on a time clock, no flex time, no work life balance, no performance reviews, vague objectives, poor facilities, minimal vacation, and without warning you could be terminated with no explanation, then this is the place for you. This company has no formal performance management system in place. The attitude throughout the workforce is ultra negative doom...

    Advice to Management

Word will get out that you are unfair and cannot be trusted. When you recruit (lure) Engineers away from good jobs, at other stable companies, and then terminate them without providing a reason, formal objectives, or a single review of their performance, it will become more and more difficult to get good talent. Hopefully reviews like this will alert others to beware. I wish someone had warned me.

I worked at Chemring Group full-time

    Pros

Good place to work with good Benefits and Co-workers.

    Cons

Permanently laying off employee(s) with 25+ years of service is not always a good choice especially when they have the most experience with products made at the facility. You have to not only pay attention to what you are doing but always check the person next to you. Everyone MUST follow S.O.P.'s!

    Advice to Management

Upper Management personnel needs to go out into the facility & work in the assemblers position especially without telling the supervisor of that building. Let this be a surprise, so that you can tell exactly how it is for your hard working personnel. Need some type of incentive for each job position. Also bring back the attendance incentive.

I worked at Chemring Group full-time

    Pros

The range of jobs and personnel is broad and provides exposure to a variety of experts in many fields. The experience and knowledge of the various teams are extensive.

    Cons

The departments are compartmentalized and productive work is challenging with each other due to lack of exposure to other groups. Management personnel are in constant flux and overall objectives are obscure from week to week.
