I worked at Chemtura full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Good people, competitive pay, leadership position in some product areas. Life can be very good if you are in the Philadelphia headquarters.

    Cons

Upper management that is addicted to consultants and hasn't had an original idea in 5 years. The combining of the Petroleum Additives and Urethanes businesses makes absolutely no sense. The Chemtura world is now divided between those that are in the Philadelphia office and the rest of company.

    Advice to Management

Understand the businesses you are running and stand for something. Take note that every business divested by Chemtura has gone on to prosper once out from the chaos of Chemtura.

    Pros

Good as it can be. We got excellent life insurance benefits. Very small work force on its way out the door.

I worked at Chemtura full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Majority of the people are still nice, work well in teams and are customer focused

    Cons

You have to be a part of a clique to advance. Doing the right thing, working hard and contributing positively while appreciated will not get you the career growth needed unless part of a clique

Almost always prefer outside hires to promoting from within the ranks. No longer value experience and knowledge. Middle management has become a revolving door

    Advice to Management

Hear out people who have been in the business for a while. Not everything they say is wrong. Become customer focused and earnings will improve automatically. Stop pandering just to Wall Street.
