I worked at ChenMed full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Higher salary than most placed I've worked.

    Cons

I feel that it is my duty to warn potential employees about the down sides of working for this company. I joined initially thinking that this was a concierge practice since that is how it was presented. I was surprised to find that I was responsible for every patient on my panel who ended up in the hospital. Some admits cannot be prevented people! I still had high hopes though. Partnership is offered after the first year...

Dear PCP at ChenMed: I recently read your review and I am sorry your experience with us has not met your expectations. As Chief Medical Officer, your feedback struck a chord in me. It is true that we ask a lot of our PCPs. Taking responsibility for patient outcomes is a much ...

I worked at ChenMed full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Model of care- providing care for the neediest population!

    Cons

I am unsure where to start! Training in Miami is completely different from the reality. The goal for the company is to see your patients monthly. I have never been in a role where you are forced to make patients come in monthly. Everything is based on numbers- so if you are not seeing your patients that frequent than it's reported on your numbers. I have had patient who do not take any medications and up to date with...

    Advice to Management

Focus on VIP care for your staff. Fix the problems. Stop trying to pay people more money without fixing the ultimate issues. Money doesn't buy happiness. People will continue to leave until the problems are resolved!

    May 14, 2019Chief Medical Officer

Dear former medical provider, Thank you for your feedback. Due to the rapid growth and unique demands our model requires and the smaller panels of about 400-450 patients, we do embrace standardization for best practices and we also increase our expectations for the level of care ...

      I worked at ChenMed full-time

      Pros

Excellent pay and benefits. The Chens are wonderful family to work for. They go above and beyond for their employees.

      Cons

Not many. Unfortunately, not everyone in a leadership position model good ethics like the Chens.

      Advice to Management

At this time, I would be unable to recommend an RN friend for a case manager role.

I worked at ChenMed full-time for more than a year

      Pros

The company's mission to provide care to the under-served is noble, and people truly do get good healthcare there.

      Cons

The company is poorly run and everything is 100% about the Chens at all times - more so than the patients. You will be forced to recite their internal messaging daily, and you will be forced to pretend to be enthusiastic about saying the same 5 sentences morning after morning, day in and day out. It's corporate brainwashing and it does nothing towards actually achieving the mission you're forced to recite. Did you...

      Advice to Management

Place more value in your employees and their abilities, and stop trying to micromanage everything from the top. Don't make people recite a message as if that will make them believe it. And if you're going to operate as a highly religious company, at least let people know that before they join.

      Pros

awesome coworkers, patients, and work family.

      Cons

The company has values and things that, when interviewing, and hiring make this sound like a phenomenal opportunity. VIP CARE...but what they do not disclose, until after you begin working is...VIP care within reason, they load your schedule 20+ daily (even though your hired for a different number 12-16, check LinkedIN as well, they published the amount to work per day), you have to see all your own walkins, as well...

      Advice to Management

-appreciate the employees you have -acknowledge their hard work -stick to what you say--follow through with rewards/bonuses -disclose these things upfront -when recruiting providers, be forthcoming about different company names/turnover rates etc. also job duties and bonuses.

      Pros

Offers a competitive salary starting out

      Cons

Company is staffed with employees with very little idea how to run a successful business. Big ideas with unrealistic expectations on how to execute these ideas are habitually thrown around. Very little consistenty and plans die when someone else comes up with the next big thing. Most disturbing is the company turning a blind eye to sexual and workplace harassment. The Talent Acquisition area allows one male recruiter...
