I have been working at ChenMed full-time for less than a year

    Pros

My colleague told me about Glass door comment and had to respond. We all know who the negative people are, even if they pretend. Love what the company stands for. Everyone in my department is very nice and easy to work with. I love that the recruiting process is strict to try and keep our strong culture of excellence. The formula for success here is very simple. If you work hard and follow the ChenMed Way, you get rewarded....

    Advice to Management

Don’t feel bad for being who we are. We are who we are and almost all of us love being here!

I worked at ChenMed full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

The employees are helpful and friendly.

    Cons

Where should I start? ChenMed held a contest last year, asking current employees to post on Glass Door in an effort to combat the negative reviews. Regrettably, most of the positive reviews were posted by staff trying to win a free trip to Miami. The Chen's have an impractical expectancy of what can be accomplished and run the company with little concern for anyone other than themselves. If you question or push...

Hire experience leaders and allow them to lead. Invest in your staff Celebrate accomplishments Take a long hard look at the culture you have created, it's toxic.

    Pros

Great co-workers willing to help you in your job! Good message and focus on healthcare for the elderly. Interesting IT projects and technologies to work on.

    Cons

This is to inform any candidate who is looking to join this company and wants to know what they’re signing up for….please do not make the same mistake I did. Let me start off by saying to please be very careful with some of these reviews, specifically the ones that were written in 2018. ChenMed ran a campaign called #lovewhatyoudo last year and asked all its employees to post positive reviews on Glassdoor to increase...

    Advice to Management

Fire the CIO as he has created a fearful, toxic and non-transparent environment. Also, replace the Director level positions in IT with well qualified individuals who know what they are doing and know how to manage people and projects. I’d also recommend to change your recruiting approach to make sure that you are recruiting religious like-minded candidates that believe in your faith if that is what you’re truly looking...

    Pros

Model of care- providing care for the neediest population!

    Cons

I am unsure where to start! Training in Miami is completely different from the reality. The goal for the company is to see your patients monthly. I have never been in a role where you are forced to make patients come in monthly. Everything is based on numbers- so if you are not seeing your patients that frequent than it's reported on your numbers. I have had patient who do not take any medications and up to date with...

    Advice to Management

Focus on VIP care for your staff. Fix the problems. Stop trying to pay people more money without fixing the ultimate issues. Money doesn't buy happiness. People will continue to leave until the problems are resolved!

Dear former medical provider, Thank you for your feedback. Due to the rapid growth and unique demands our model requires and the smaller panels of about 400-450 patients, we do embrace standardization for best practices and we also increase our expectations for the level of care ...

    Pros

The company's mission to provide care to the under-served is noble, and people truly do get good healthcare there.

    Cons

The company is poorly run and everything is 100% about the Chens at all times - more so than the patients. You will be forced to recite their internal messaging daily, and you will be forced to pretend to be enthusiastic about saying the same 5 sentences morning after morning, day in and day out. It's corporate brainwashing and it does nothing towards actually achieving the mission you're forced to recite. Did you...

    Advice to Management

Place more value in your employees and their abilities, and stop trying to micromanage everything from the top. Don't make people recite a message as if that will make them believe it. And if you're going to operate as a highly religious company, at least let people know that before they join.

    I worked at ChenMed full-time

    Pros

the concept of giving seniors VIP care that delivers better health is what attracts people to the job.

    Cons

Everything boils down to metrics, and it is drilled into you at every meeting how we are or are not meeting metrics. People who analyze the metrics are far removed from daily patient care. Worse, it has been made mandatory to recite the “Chenmed way” every single morning and at every meeting. Makes staff feel as if they are being slowly brainwashed and reprogrammed. After a while...

    Advice to Management

You guys are messing up a good thing with all the micromanagement and over-regulation. Adding more and more work and expectations are stressing staff out and the cause for heavy turnover in employees. People that started off enthusiastic about the vision are being turned off .

I have been working at ChenMed full-time for more than a year

    Pros

ChenMed is a dynamic and progressive organization with a significant role in the evolution of senior healthcare. This a great opportunity for anyone who is passionate about patient care and humanity. Right now, the organization is experiencing some "growing pains". People who are considering joining the organization need to be willing to step out of their comfort zone and be prepared to "roll up their sleeves and get their hands dirty". Often times, you may be required to join projects that are outside of your job description. This also presents a great opportunity for advancement! ChenMed is still working on creating...

    Advice to Management

Continue to remain engaged across all markets with employees and patients. It seems like a very big task, considering the company's growing patient and employee base. It is not impossible. If we are all focused on our mission, we will accomplish a lot.

I have been working at ChenMed full-time

      Pros

      There are very minimal pros

      Cons

The leadership of this company is a Christian Family. Do they act like one? Yes, they do, but they make sure they do it publicly with their “kind acts” to make sure everyone sees and hear what they have done. On any regular day day the family is rude, disrespectful and could care less about any employee or their families. I have been with the company for almost 3 years, have had my run into a few issues which have been...
