I worked at Chenega Professional Services full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Staff works hard to please the client.

    Cons

Back-stabbing, immature leadership, no help from above when client is not fair or working to get rid of those he/she desires for whatever petty reason.

    Advice to Management

Have your staff's back!!! Don't always think the client is right. Investigate.

I have been working at Chenega Professional Services full-time for more than a year

      Pros

Chenega Professional Service primarily focuses on work with the federal government and does have a number of long-term federal contracts. The company pays very well, They have very good benefits (health, dental, 401(k)), Paychecks are deposited 2 times a month.

      Cons

The company is very much like most other federal contractors with no unique brand and little to differentiate themselves from other federal contracting organizations. Very little communication occurs between management and employees. There are no morale boosting events, and there is no formal employee recognition.

      Advice to Management

Start developing a brand that differentiates the company from other federal contracting companies. Communicate more with the employees. Conduct some morale boosting events. Provide formal recognition for accomplishments to employee.

I have been working at Chenega Professional Services

        Pros

If you work as part of the overhead or direct billing project part of the company, it is a pretty good company. They hire really nice people. Pay is really good. Company is really good with work-life balance. Great company for quick project work or for mid-level individuals.

        Cons

Chenega Government Consulting is a small company that is focused on winning new work and has no plans in place for current employees. Lack growth and long term succession plans. Tend to see their employees as 'staff' not are of value as long as they are billable. However, no investment is put in at the company to grow the company within unless you work in the Corporate office (VA).

        Advice to Management

Put plans in place to keep the really good people and help them grow within the company.

I worked at Chenega Professional Services full-time

        Pros

Decent salaries but not worth it, in my opinion. Benefits are minimal with very high deductibles, and continuation by COBRA is excessively expensive.

        Cons

Chenega was my first experience with a government consulting/contractor company. As an Alaska Native Corporation they are exempt from Title VII discrimination laws. They tell you up front they can fire you for any reason, with impunity. They are registered as a Small Disadvantaged business but actually employ thousands, being a primary labor provider to the federal government and military. I found management's attitude...
