    Doesn't Recommend
    Negative Outlook

I have been working at Chestnut Hill College full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Small college with overall good faculty.

    Cons

Micro-managers at all levels of administration. No clear direction in the leadership.

    Advice to Management

Decide what kind of school you are going to be and what academic standards you are willing to uphold. Then hold each other to those standards. Listen to your faculty and staff. They want to work WITH you.

    Negative Outlook

I worked at Chestnut Hill College part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Given the Catholic tradition, there is a huge emphasis on community, which is really wonderful. Small campus, everyone knows everyone. Great values and benefits.

    Cons

Anytime there was conflict or an event that brought negative attention to the college, administration had a very "hush hush, let's sweep this under the rug and never speak of it again" approach to resolving it. This only perpetuated idle gossip and led to the spreading of misinformation. Leadership feels extremely cliquey and childish at times, which I attribute to the lack of gender diversity (leadership roles are filled mostly by women).

    Advice to Management

In the event of something that brings negative attention to the college, tell the truth. This is a Catholic school, after all. Communication practices are very poor: sharing vague information, sweeping information under the rug, etc.
