I have been working at Chevron full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Good pay. Great trainings. Great work life balance, especially the 9/80 schedule (every other Friday or Monday off)

    Cons

Lots of politics going on in the HR function. If you are not on mamagement's blessed list, then you can't get anywhere within the company.

    Advice to Management

Start by looking at the small things. Stop reinforcing negative and poor performance and start to recognize the employees who are actually working hard!

I have been working at Chevron full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Chevron is an excellent company to work for. I love the overall diversity and culture of the company. The salaries offered are very competitive and the employee development opportunities are like no other company I have seen.

    Cons

The internal PDC process can seem a bit unfair. Those who are in the elite are chosen for top positions.

    Advice to Management

Emphasis is placed heavily on those in the HRD program. Employees outside of this program definitely take a back seat to those in the program. Take time to see the value in ALL employees. Understand the needs of HR and listen, listen, listen. Too many decisions are made at the top with very little input from those doing the actual work.

    Pros

Work life balance, wonderful cafeteria, great co-workers, true committment to safety, and opportunity to learn from a major operator. Love the 9/80 schedule

    Cons

Hard to become permanent in Human Resources. You essentially have to begin as an HR Assistant.

    Keep up the good work
