I have been working at Chevron Phillips Chemical full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

The people in research groups are excellent. At every level, you will find technical experts who are excited to share their knowledge and help each other succeed. Interesting and exciting projects to work on (when they aren't being killed by the business groups). Great place to start a career. Good salary, 9/80s, benefits.

    Cons

No interest or incentives for upper business management to develop and support a long term vision/plan. They occupy positions for a year or two at most and take their promotions and leave. Not compatible with new product development. Largely flat organization with career opportunities for chemical engineers only. Everyone else has limited/no career development or progression opportunities.

I have been working at Chevron Phillips Chemical for more than a year

    Pros

Great benefits and perks, safest company I've ever worked for and they make it their first commitment, help resources are outstanding, great opportunities to advance for employees, management does their best to be fair and the 9/80 schedule is really helpful for having an extra day to get your personal errands and appointments in.

    Cons

It would be nice if they opened the door a little more as far as applying for job opportunities within the company, internal postings are not available for contractors and you may only apply for positions that are open for the general public, that are often more contractor positions.

I have been working at Chevron Phillips Chemical

    Pros

*9/80s *Safety Culture *Work-Life Balance *Culture feels like a family- Everyone is there for one another *Bonuses and Benefits *Flat Company so easier to move up initially. *GRAD Program for new hires

    Cons

*HR is pretty incompetent (probably the same with any company, but they are so slow and tend to never work or be at work. Not sure how they get away with this)

I have been working at Chevron Phillips Chemical full-time

    Pros

CPChem is a great place to work. Awesome benefits and fair pay. I feel the work load is well balanced and the 9/80 schedule is great, however I wish they would let you make it up when you have to miss one of your days. They are also very concerned with safety it is embedded in the culture.

    Cons

The culture is very conservative and I mean fiscally. I've paid for almost all my lunches every time we've gone out on team lunches.

I have been working at Chevron Phillips Chemical full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

9/80 work schedule; Bonuses are usually good and have been always paid every year even it is a down year

    Cons

Need more flexibility in work schedules to create a better work/home life balance, especially for employees that are required to care for serious home issues and work a full time job. Don't provide sick and vacation time and then threaten to take the time away from employees because these are benefits or perks of employment. HR keeps certain employees from development, forcing people to stay in positions for months to years because they see the employee as a problem because of a host of potential reasons. You may miss out on career advancement and learning opportunities. HR will always back a supervisor, not believing that an employee is telling any truth. There's really no where to report issues of a coworker to when HR and that person are together all of the time. If a 25+ year tenured supervisor or coworker does wrong, they should be let go just as quickly as someone would be that has been with the company for 5 years or less. Micromanagement from mid-level supervision is horrible. Especially if the supervisor came from a parent company or other CPChem location that didn't trust employees so the supervisor continues to pay it forward several years later. Supervisors manage their people as though the employees are always trying to get something over on the them or company.

I have been working at Chevron Phillips Chemical full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Good pay and benefits. Lots of opportunities for early career growth. Work-Life balance is usually very good. Most locations offer a 9-80 work schedule. CEO seems to be an exceptional leader.

    Cons

Management ability is sporadic, and often does not follow through on commitments. The work environment is generally pretty good.

I worked at Chevron Phillips Chemical full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Overall CPChem is a good company to work for. They are employee focused and strive to have a good work/life balance. 9/80 work schedule, and training opportunities are decent. Excellent benefits package, generous 401k and pension offerings. As with any company, there are office politics and persnickety managers but ymmv.

    Cons

CPChem is in the O&G sector but unfortunately compensation for IT roles is not on par with their peers in O&G.

I have been working at Chevron Phillips Chemical full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Awesome development program for new engineers. 9/80 work schedule

    Cons

Less pay then parent companies. Management mandates tasks without considering resources. You'll be working 13hr days.
