I worked at Chevron full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Competitive pay and benefits. But 2017 had deep benefit cuts and continued lay offs. In numerous situations the employees that got to stay have the weakest technical skills and limited relocation availability. I used to think that Chevron was the best company in the oil industry to work for. Sadly, I can't say that ever again. The company image and facade don't match the inner workings. Good luck if you join the company. It's a difficult place to join as a senior experienced hire. You should expect to have very limited career growth in most cases. Simply because you didn't grow up in Chevron.

    Cons

A younger, lass experienced micro-manager boss that did not understand how to do his direct report jobs which led to an impossible no-win situation. I could have walked on water and parted the Red Sea and it wouldn't have changed the relationship or the outcome. HR is not for the employee's protection but instead is for the supervisor's protection. Forced ranking is still used and someone has to get the lowest rating in each PSG in order to balance the pool average. It is clearly NOT that the most talented stay and advance in the company. But it is true that very often the best "yes-people" most willing to say and do whatever their boss wants get to stay.

    Advice to Management

Look at your middle management closer. You have people in supervisory positions that clearly should not have any direct reports and should be removed from their jobs. Actually they should be permanently removed from the company before they can do more damage.

I have been working at Chevron full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

It's much safer than franchise gas stations, because of requirement to drop every $20 bill you get from the customer. Free coffee.

    Cons

Chevron is paranoid. They make employees wear a lot of unnecessary PPE, do a lot of nonsense loops, clean the pumps and restrooms, work in a cooler and all the worst things you can imagine.

    Advice to Management

To rise the pay. To not contradict themselves when they first say "take your time" and at the same time they want you to do 10 things at the same time.

I worked at Chevron full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Pay was decent, Benefits were average. 401K matching was good.

    Cons

I quit it september 2016. Just found out from HR that unless I worked until Feb 28, 2017 that I would not get any portion of my CIP Bonus. Politics that are played between management and long term employees. So unless you have been with the company for 20+ years expect to get screwed on advancements or moving up the ladder. There are many behind the scenes business dinners that take place. Not all rules apply for the same employees of the same pay level. It is ok for management to deviate from corporate policy but not the ones that work under them, unless you are in their click. IE... driving trucks home, getting job positions, and CIP bonuses. Not sure how my father lasted 30 years.

    Advice to Management

MCBU FE management is the issue.
