I have been working at Chevron full-time

    Pros

Pay is good, alternate Friday off. Not much else. Must keep writing because there is a 20 word minimum , hard to get more pros in here.

    Cons

Very badly managed, politics, layoffs, favoritism, cliques, workload to big. Career path for those who are chosen and all based on BS politics not merit or experience.

    Pros

Travel opportunities and exciting project work in international locations, benefits are good for both the employees and family, bonuses reflect company and personal performance.

    Cons

Employment security subject to oil price fluctuations, career advancement can be limited and employee needs to be proactive and make this a priority.

    Advice to Management

Let your employees know they are valued in more personal ways than simply financial compensation.

I worked at Chevron full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

HR professionals are well compensated. Bonus structure is good/motivates the right behaviors. Company culture is exceptional and one of the primary reasons I would have stayed if not for the sub culture within the HR function. A lot of developmental opportunities if you are mobile.

    Cons

HR functional leadership has some difficult/demotivating behaviors. There is a subculture within HR that is politics heavy and can be very challenging to work within.

Trust the people that have been keeping the plants running for years.
