I worked at Chevron full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Salary and challenges are above average. Travel and work outside the US is possible . It is possible to chart your career if you find the right mentor .

    Cons

Too much Politics and good old boy entrenched management. Enormous amount of pointless box checking and administrative tasks. The industry is in economic distress .

    Advice to Management

Listen to subject matter experts (SME) for all projects involving new technologies. Trust employees over outside consultants. Diversity is not only in national origins but also in educational backgrounds

    Pros

very good benefits and work environment. the work schedule was good, they cared for their employees and had a strong vision statement and corporate path forward

    Cons

there were few cons there, The performance evaluation process was skewed and tended to have accountability gaps. There were occasions were departments did not communicate well with each other

    Advice to Management

I have very little advice to management, they had a strong business plan and vision for the future. They cared a great deal for their employees and I would encourage them to continue this process

I worked at Chevron full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The manager Jessica is a very friendly and understanding person when it comes to physical limitations and scheduling. The felicity California Highway Patrol office is across the street and it is always a pleasure having them come in for their morning coffee.

    Cons

The owner is some what arrogant. Has the whole "men do it better" mindset and is very closed minded when it comes to new ideas to help improve the store's revenue.

    Advice to Management

Keep being the awesome manager I know you are.

    Pros

Pay is good, alternate Friday off. Not much else. Must keep writing because there is a 20 word minimum , hard to get more pros in here.

    Cons

Very badly managed, politics, layoffs, favoritism, cliques, workload to big. Career path for those who are chosen and all based on BS politics not merit or experience.
