I have been working at Chevy Chase Bank full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Professional atmosphere, well maintained office space. Motivated customers. Great job to start finance career.

    Cons

You have to deal with angry customers a lot of the time because of unexpected charges by the bank. CSR is sales position requiring employees to meet a goal. All closing shift employees must leave together so if another employee makes a mistake, everyone must wait until the error has been corrected.

    Advice to Management

Customer Service Reps have a lot of duties assigned and shouldn't be required to meet sales goals. I think there should be commission for sales and that should be enough incentive to encourage employees to sell products.

I worked at Chevy Chase Bank full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Great organization, with dedicated employees. Good overall employee tenure with the company. The benefits were great. One example is the bank owned a mortgage company one of the benefits included a 1/2 percent rebate on the balance of your loan as long as you got the loan through the company and were still employed each year.

    Cons

There are no cons to list. Great company!

    Advice to Management

No advice or issues with management.

    Pros

Recognition for job achievement. Great pay. The software and the back office support for the branches was outstanding.

    Cons

    Sales minimum. Limited sick days.

    Advice to Management

Make your team want to work for you instead of making your team work for you.

    Pros

Flexible Hours because it is in non-banking I was able to come in between 7 am and 9am . leave between 3:30 and 5pm. Benefits were good. Independent work. Management was great when you needed to leave and/or have time off.

    Cons

My experience with Chevy Chase Bank was a great. For this position I was not able to come up with any cons. Of course pay can always be more.

    Advice to Management

Always remember you are successful because of your great staff. Don't ever think that you are better than anyone. Everyone and all jobs are expendable.

    Pros

Being a regional bank you got to know your co-workers and contacts. The Chevy Chase severance package and benefits were decent

    Cons

Capital One changed the Chevy Chase corporate culture to one where Chevy Chase employees were treated like a losing sports team

    Advice to Management

Unfortunately, creating another bank too big to fail and too big to manage seems to be the order of the day and will keep Cap One around for quite awhile.
