I worked at Chicago Police Department full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Everyday is a different experience. Always something to learn. Always someone to help. Always something new to see. Never a dull moment.

    Cons

The only cons are that some people don't like the police until they need you. But that is not reflective of how you perform your job.

I have been working at Chicago Police Department full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

    Large organization, many opportunities.

    Cons

law enforcement is dead in Chicago. The current administration is undermining the safety and security of the membership. The department and city are a sinking ship, bail out!

    Advice to Management

Your first responsibility is to the safety and security of the membership, secondly is serving the community. Stop catering to the criminal element.

I have been working at Chicago Police Department full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Public service as a police officer with the 3rd largest city in the country. Good city funded benefits are provided

    Cons

City should do more, there has been attrition over the past decade and everyone really feels it.

    Advice to Management

Rahm Emanuel has to do more. Just because Chicago's population is unstable, doesn't mean that the safety of all Chicagoans should be in limbo. He knows that we need more police officers and does nothing about it, now trying to act like he did something by giving out a police exam to hire new recruits.
