I worked at Chicago Public Schools full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Hardworking and motivated teachers and staff who really care about their students!!

    Cons

Unorganized district with a lot of turnover, red tape, and frustration getting in the way of teaching. Everyone is working their hardest but the district still sends mandates that include more testing and hurtles for teachers. Mainly to justify more jobs that are non teacher related and are higher up. This creates an environment of burn out. Loved my administration and staff regardless of the difficulties though!

I worked at Chicago Public Schools full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

The kids. Such a diverse group!

    Cons

Working for a large urban public school district is hard. The district makes changes on a whim and has no idea how it effects the teachers or students. Special education budget is being cut and teachers are expected to do more with less. Some school are good and some school are bad, very bad

Every school is different, be ready for drastic differences between schools
