Pros
CPS is one of the countries largest public school districts. Decent pay and benefits. Very rewarding working with the youth of Chicago. Offers several opportunistic for professional development. Mm
Cons
CPS's board of directors are hand- picked by the Mayor whose thinks educators are over paid and have low accountability. He is not supportive of the Union. Management very beaurcratic. CEO selection never in-house and have very little track of success. School closings was back door plan to get rid of tenured teachers. Over testing students at least 6 high stakes assessments given in a single school year. Principal, support staff and teachers have high and nearly impossible attendance, assessment and social development goals with little resources to support initiatives. Must become be tough enough to deal with being professionally insulted by upper management and parents.
