Bad Place With Bad Management
Apr 12, 2017 - Sales Associate/Keyholder in Oxon Hill, MDRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
If you are looking for 5 cents extra every two weeks then this is good for you.
Cons
Depending on the location: managers are nasty, coworkers are nasty, and DM's favorite some employees which is not right. Chico's is also going broke and they do not pay their employees as much as they should.

Part-time Sales Associate
Jun 4, 2014 - Part Time Sales Associate in New York, NYRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Dedicated leaders and opportunities to move up the corporate ladder, flexible work hours, decent employee discount on clothing and accessories, cheerful, pleasant work atmosphere and friendly managers, strong commitment to collecting for well-known charities.
Cons
Retail sales are not for everyone - it is hard to stand on your feet continuously for a 4-5 hour shift, with only a 10 minute break. Time off has to be scheduled two and a half weeks in advance, subject to management approval. Employees are expected to work three out of four weekends per month. If you have a family, the life-work balance in a retail company that requires you to work on weekends is not optimal. Starting pay is low and Chico's strongly encourages its employees to wear only Chico's clothing.

Not A Place For Growth
Apr 19, 2019 - Associate Designer in Fort Myers, FLRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Because it is located in a place that is not center of industry the pay is very competitive. Hours are fairly normal most of the time. The benefits are good and employment is stable.
Cons
It is extremely difficult to get promoted. Leadership is very cliquey and they like to play favorites. The office politics are a bit out of control. The environment is very accusatory, people often play the blame game during meetings and through each other under the bus.

Pros
Good discount and great customers
Cons
The company has definitely changed for worst. The starting hourly pay has gone down significantly as well as the bonus/commission structure. Revolving door with staff. Also, some members of management are very unprofessional. Gossiping and cliques are normal behaviors for the store. You can't make money if you don't have a happy and competent staff. And you can't have a great staff if you're not willing to pay for and train quality people. Moral is at an all time low. The store manager needs to go! Get it together!!!

Pros
Great Team to spend the work day with. Most customers are loyal and fun. Discount 40%
Cons
Pay is extremely low as I have most of the same duties as the managers. Commission is very low as well, begins at $1, hours are always tight, hard work for the pay.

Stay Away!! Theres a reason you always see jobs posted there!!
Jan 6, 2023 - Store ManagerRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
In the past year the company has gone downhill fast. Employees are fleeing from the top down since the restructuring. There is a reason why you constantly see jobs posted for the company.
Cons
- Pay, benefits and incentives are subpar compared to competitors - Pay ranges direct reports are significantly low with zero flexibility which makes it extremely difficult to find and attract top talent - Company restructured and grouped all 3 brands (Chicos, Chicos Outlet & WHBM) into one district creating significantly more work for upper management. District management is completely overworked and barely present. - Company culture cares more about what you wear to work then what skills you bring to the table. Strict dress code that requires you to wear the current (and very expensive) product with little discount. Product changes over every month. - Employee discount is 40% across the brands but that does not stack with current promotions. You would get whatever the better deal is. - Company directives are unorganized and sporadic. Floorset documents are vague, lacking detail and inspiration and missing product so you're always left wondering what to do with all of the product left out. - Can't seem to get the product or supply chain issues corrected. - No work life balance...expectation to work until its done. - Its all about who you know at this company - Not a fun culture. Very catty. - Constant dog and pony show on LinkedIn but always from upper management - huge red flag!

Awesome place to work !!!! Regretted my decision to leave !!!!
Mar 29, 2010 -RecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Associates and well as all managers were on a monthly bonus program so everyone worked extremely well together to make the stores goals for the month because everyone benefitted once the store made its goal. Great feeling of pride with regards to customer service, outfitting a customer head to toe and making them feel good about themselves. Small staffs so everyone worked well together. No cliques as you find in larger stores. The District manager that hired me really made us feel that we were part of her family. Associates as well as managers were recognized for a job well done. We would go on road trips with our DM to other stores in our district to help with floor sets. It was always a fun time.
Cons
Very small stores and no backstock space. Had to constantly run off the floor and climb on ladders to get merchandise for customers. Base pay was not great but you had the potential to make it great based on your bonus each month. Were required to dress in Chico's current styles and even though you were given a 50% discount, the clothes are still expensive to continue to purchase.

Our store makes over $2 million a year and we make $10-15/hour with a company policy of NEVER giving raises, only COLA
May 15, 2011 - Sales Lead in Honolulu, HIRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
The corporate people do a very good job of marketing, so we are always busy.
Cons
They are stingy. Our employee discount is high, but are salaries are so low that we cannot afford to buy anything and pay rent. The pay is about 75% of a Living Wage (according to Living Wage institute's formula). They have a company policy of NEVER giving a wage other than a yearly cost of living adjustment or COLA. That means you could get a 10 cent raise. Yuck! No 401k, minimal health insurance. And the worst part? They have the audacity to make their motto: The best place to work, live, and grow. Also, my store alone does over $2 million/year in sales! I would be ashamed of myself to treat my employees like that!

Pros
The associates are very supportive and Chico's has a team environment. The leadership truly takes interest in their associates and wants to create a great work environment.
Cons
They pay isn't always competetive. Some deparatments and areas pay well and other departments do not pay competetively at all.
